𝙋𝙚𝙤𝙥𝙡𝙚’𝙨 𝘿𝙖𝙮 𝙃𝙞𝙜𝙝𝙡𝙞𝙜𝙝𝙩𝙨 | 𝙊𝙣𝙚 𝘿𝙖𝙮 𝘽𝙖𝙮 𝙂𝙪𝙖𝙧𝙙𝙞𝙖𝙣𝙨 – 𝙔𝙤𝙪𝙩𝙝 𝘼𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙎𝙖𝙧𝙖𝙣𝙜𝙖𝙣𝙞 𝘽𝙖𝙮

In line with the celebration of SBPS Week 2026, the activity titled 𝙊𝙣𝙚 𝘿𝙖𝙮 𝘽𝙖𝙮 𝙂𝙪𝙖𝙧𝙙𝙞𝙖𝙣𝙨: 𝙔𝙤𝙪𝙩𝙝 𝘼𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙎𝙖𝙧𝙖𝙣𝙜𝙖𝙣𝙞 𝘽𝙖𝙮 was held as a meaningful People’s Day initiative in the Municipality of Maasim in honor of the 30th Anniversary of the Sarangani Bay Protected Seascape.

Behind every photo are weeks of preparation, meetings, planning, and gathering of materials, made possible by passionate volunteers who share one purpose: to inspire young people to care for the seas that sustain their communities.

Our heartfelt gratitude goes to the youth of Maasim who answered the call. Selected high school students gathered not only to participate, but also to learn and experience what it truly means to become stewards of the ocean they live beside.

Through a coastal clean-up drive, waste audit activities, guided biodiversity walks, and interactive learning stations about marine biodiversity and megafauna, the students discovered that protecting the ocean begins with awareness and action.

For many of these young participants who live along the coast, the sea is not just a view — it is part of their everyday life, their livelihood, and their future. Seeing their eagerness to learn, their curiosity during discussions, and their dedication throughout the activities served as a powerful reminder that conservation becomes stronger when communities — especially the youth — take part in it.

This initiative was organized by AGOS Batch 5 in partnership with SK Kamanga and SK Poblacion Maasim. It demonstrates that when young people are given the opportunity to learn and serve, they become powerful voices for change.

These empowered volunteers did more than facilitate activities — they sparked awareness, inspired responsibility, and reminded everyone that the next generation of Bay Guardians is already rising.

Let us all become Bay Guardians for Sarangani Bay.

One Day Bay Guardians: Youth Action for Sarangani Bay was a meaningful initiative held in celebration of the 30th Anniversary of the Sarangani Bay Protected Seascape (SBPS), with the theme “Communities Beyond Conservation.”

This event empowered selected high school students from the Municipality of Maasim, Sarangani Province, to learn, explore, and actively participate in protecting the rich marine ecosystem of Sarangani Bay.

We extend our gratitude to our partners SK Poblacion Maasim and SK Kamanga Maasim, and to Maasim Central Elementary School for generously hosting the activity. Special thanks also go to the Organization of Mathematics and Natural Sciences Students (OMANSS) and the Natural Sciences Students Association (NASSA) for their valuable support.

As we celebrate 30 years of the Sarangani Bay Protected Seascape, this activity reminds us that protecting our environment goes beyond conservation—it is about strengthening communities, inspiring the youth, and building a shared responsibility to care for our seas for generations to come.

🌊 𝐌𝐚𝐚𝐬𝐢𝐦 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐡, 𝐀𝐧𝐬𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐂𝐚𝐥𝐥!

The youth of Maasim take part in 𝑶𝒏𝒆 𝑫𝒂𝒚 𝑩𝒂𝒚 𝑮𝒖𝒂𝒓𝒅𝒊𝒂𝒏𝒔: 𝒀𝒐𝒖𝒕𝒉 𝑨𝒄𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝑺𝒂𝒓𝒂𝒏𝒈𝒂𝒏𝒊 𝑩𝒂𝒚, a special environmental activity in celebration of SBPS Week – People’s Day. This youth-focused initiative brings together selected students from the Municipality of Maasim, Sarangani Province to learn, explore, and take action in protecting the rich marine ecosystem of Sarangani Bay.

Participants will take part in meaningful activities such as a 𝒄𝒐𝒂𝒔𝒕𝒂𝒍 𝒄𝒍𝒆𝒂𝒏-𝒖𝒑 𝒅𝒓𝒊𝒗𝒆, 𝒘𝒂𝒔𝒕𝒆 𝒂𝒖𝒅𝒊𝒕, 𝒊𝒏𝒕𝒆𝒓𝒂𝒄𝒕𝒊𝒗𝒆 𝒍𝒆𝒂𝒓𝒏𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒔𝒕𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒔 𝒂𝒃𝒐𝒖𝒕 𝒎𝒂𝒓𝒊𝒏𝒆 𝒃𝒊𝒐𝒅𝒊𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒔𝒊𝒕𝒚 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒎𝒆𝒈𝒂𝒇𝒂𝒖𝒏𝒂, and a 𝒈𝒖𝒊𝒅𝒆𝒅 𝒃𝒊𝒐𝒅𝒊𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒔𝒊𝒕𝒚 𝒘𝒂𝒍𝒌 𝒂𝒍𝒐𝒏𝒈 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒄𝒐𝒂𝒔𝒕. Through these hands-on experiences, students will discover the importance of marine conservation and how young people can become responsible stewards of the environment. 🐚🌱

Since its legislation in March 5, 1996, the Sarangani Bay Protected Seascape has been more than just protected waters — it’s been a shared promise. 💙

For three decades, fishermen, Indigenous communities, factory workers, researchers, the youth, and partners have shown us that conservation isn’t just about ecosystems — it’s about people.

With this year’s theme, “Communities Beyond Conservation,” we celebrate the hands that protect, the hearts that care, and the heritage that keeps our bay thriving.

Our anniversary logo tells that very story — culture woven into conservation, communities standing strong, and marine life flourishing beneath it all.
