With the extreme heat these past weeks, fish can spoil much faster if not handled properly. Practicing proper handling, keeping fish clean, and immediate chilling are more important than ever to maintain quality and prevent bacterial growth.

⚠️ Consumers are also advised to handle and store fish properly, as poor temperature control can lead to scombroid poisoning or histamine poisoning, a foodborne illness caused by improperly stored fish.

💡 Better handling means fresher fish, higher value, and safer food for everyone.

Ajuy Hosts Orientation and Hands-on Demonstration on Fishery Product Value Addition Today!!🐟🐟

Today, the Local Government Unit of Ajuy, in collaboration with the Provincial Agriculture Office, is holding an Orientation and Hands-on Demonstration on Fishery Product Value Addition at the Elmer Babiera Biodiversity Conservation Learning Center. The event, led by resource speaker and trainer Mrs. Lo**ta L. Quino and Ms.Rhyzz Balinas, covers important value-adding techniques such as Bangus Deboning, Tilanggit, Bangus Relyeno, Fish Tocino, Fish Embutido, Fish Nuggets, and Fish Siomai.

Local fisherfolk, community leaders, and members of the Municipal Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Management Council (MFARMC) are among the participants, gaining practical skills to increase the marketability and value of their products. By learning these methods, participants can boost their income while promoting sustainable fishery practices.

This training is part of Ajuy’s ongoing efforts to strengthen local livelihoods and ensure the sustainable management of marine resources. The event highlights a collaborative approach to community development, bringing together various stakeholders with a shared goal of promoting economic growth and resource conservation.🐟
