Abuyog, Leyte โ After a brief pause due to Tropical Cyclone Wilma, the 2nd Costale: Characters Come Alive Runway Showdown finally lit up the ACC Gymnasium on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, delivering a spectacle of creativity and imagination.
Six dynamic groups from the third year BSEd English Literature class, guided by Prof. Alvin Advincula, transformed beloved literary characters into stunning live portrayals.
From dramatic entrances to intricate costumes, each group showcased the artistry of storytelling, turning familiar narratives into vivid, unforgettable performances.
This vibrant showdown was part of the Culmination Day of the English Festival, celebrated back-to-back with the 91st National Book Week, themed:
โFrom Language to Action: Leveraging English and AI for a Just and Sustainable Tomorrow.โ
The theme encouraged students not only to embrace the power of language but also to explore how modern tools, like AI, can enrich storytelling and promote a more just and sustainable society.
Reflecting on the event, Prof. Advincula noted, โSeeing these characters step off the page reminds us that literature is alive. It speaks, it inspires, and it challenges us. Today, my BSEd English students didnโt just perform; they made stories breathe and resonate with the audience.โ
The 2nd Costale event was organized by the English Guild of ACC in partnership with the Library and Information Services Office marking a triumphant return after the typhoon-induced delay but also affirmed ACCโs commitment to nurturing students who can turn language into meaningful, impactful action.
