Celebrate with the Urim their New Testament, dedicated one year and one day ago! Pray they will engage with Scripture and be transformed by the Spirit of God. We celebrate the investment made by partner Wycliffe Raamatunkääntäjät / Wycliffe Finland through translation advisor Pirkko Luoma.

We offer this Finnish-subtitled version to give English-speakers a glimpse of the challenges of not having important communication in your first language! (We note that this post is in English and if you search ‘Urim’ on this page, you can find the English-subtitled video.)

Praise God for this achievement by the Urim! Pray for them and the other 232 languages that have reached the milestone of a New Testament with SIL-PNG: for continued opportunities to partner for spiritual growth, learning, and thriving communities.

Happy International Literacy Day! As we look forward to PNG's 51st birthday next week, we dream with the nation's children, women, and men for 'gutpela sindaun,' a concept similar to the biblical 'shalom.' Together, we work to see people flourishing in PNG's 840 language communities, with God's Word in every language and in every life.

As we repost this life-saving story from two years ago, we celebrate faithful people and teams serving fruitfully out of the spotlight across PNG. God is doing his wonderful work in and through aviators, translators, trainers, and many others!

We're also celebrating the increased transport capacity that JAARS, Inc. is bringing to PNG!

Congratulations to Translators’ Training Course graduates! Each week at the Tok Pisin Lotu service at Ukarumpa, those departing the centre are prayed for. This week, people departing included TTC graduates from languages throughout the country (some pictured here), teams who have been in Ukarumpa for consultant checking and audio recording of Scripture, and teams going out to villages for work alongside the people and churches there.

These prayer times typically praise God for the fellowship experienced while together, learning and progress made, and prayer for service and transformation in PNG’s remote language communities, with the various challenges present there. Pray with us as these people serve God throughout PNG!

Celebrate with the Nali of Manus Province!

SIL-PNG staff are gathered for our monthly Morning in Prayer. Pray with us! Here is a small selection of the requests we are praying for:

- Bible Background course in Domung, Madang: Pray that people would repent and trust Jesus.
- Pray for communities who have recently dedicated New Testaments in New Ireland: Meramera, Nalik, Feni, Label, Notsi. Pray for these communities to understand God’s love and plan for their lives.
- Kavieng Centre has a broken generator and very little town power, it has been difficult for translation work to make any progress. Pray for well-being and for a solar power system.
- Pray for Rebekah Wade (Islands Regional Director) as she meets with church leaders in Bougainville.
- Pray for the Nali (Manus) team who just finished consultant checking the New Testament.
- There have been a shocking number of boats lost at sea. Pray for translators and consultants as they process grief.
- There has been a tribal fight among the Pinai-Hagahai (Enga) since January. Several people got killed in two different clans and houses were destroyed. Infrastructure has suffered, e.g., an airstrip has been closed and telephone towers are not working anymore.
- Pray for the three Arammba (Western) students in the Translators’ Training Course. They are very motivated and learning a lot.

We are grateful for partners in PNG and around the world! Some international partners are big in geography but smaller in country population, like Wycliffe Bible Translators of Canada. Director Jed Carter recently visited the Canada Institute of Linguistics to tell students about PNG.

Other partners are rooted in larger populations, like Wycliffe Bible Translators USA. Americans serve across the full range of roles in SIL-PNG.
