🚨 WATER BLOCKADE IN PORT MORESBY 🚨

Today, residents across Port Moresby are once again feeling the effects of the Koiari landowners' blockade at Sirinumu Dam and the Rouna power station. Water has been cut off and power supplies are being affected as landowners demand outstanding compensation and formal recognition through a signed MOA (Memorandum of Agreement).

💧 No water in homes ⚡ Power disruptions in parts of the city 🚔 Police warn that shutting down vital infrastructure is a criminal offence

Landowner leaders say they’re not trying to hurt the public, but are using the blockade to pressure the Government to honor unpaid commitments and environmental damage claims. They’re demanding up to K1.5 million, citing years of neglect and broken promises.

📢 While we understand the frustrations of the landowners, essential services like water and electricity must never be used as bargaining tools. Thousands of families, hospitals, schools, and businesses are suffering right now.

🗣️ We call on the Government, Water PNG, and PNG Power to urgently resolve this issue — with fairness, respect, and transparency — so that these vital services are restored without delay.

📢 PUBLIC AWARENESS POST – PORGERA BY-ELECTION VIOLENCE ALERT 🚨

🇵🇬 Porgera Paiyala is once again facing election-related chaos and growing tensions after reports of missing ballot boxes have disrupted polling.

📦 Ballot boxes meant for Anawe-Kulapi 3 (Box Nos: 045901 to 046900, Security Seals: EC: 027585 & EC: 015391) mysteriously disappeared between Paiam Police Station and Pandadaka Village. Local voters, especially from the Sakare clan, are furious and demanding immediate answers from electoral officials.

😡 This failure has denied voters their democratic right to vote, fueling anger and frustration among the people. Many have been waiting for days, only to be told their ballot boxes never arrived.

‼️ Tensions are rising, and violence could erupt if this issue is not resolved quickly and fairly. Communities are asking:

Where are the missing boxes?

Who is responsible?

Will the people of Porgera Paiyala be allowed to vote?

🗳️ We call on the Electoral Commission, security forces, and local leaders to step in, restore order, and ensure a transparent, peaceful, and fair election process.

Why Many Papua New Guineans Don’t Trust China and Russia

In recent years, more people in PNG have become concerned about the growing influence of countries like China and Russia. But why?

Here are a few key reasons:

🔹 Bullying Other Nations:
China is aggressively claiming territory in the South China Sea, clashing with our Pacific neighbours like the Philippines. Russia invaded Ukraine and continues to wage war, ignoring international laws. PNG, as a peaceful and independent nation, doesn’t support these kinds of actions.

🔹 Too Much Political Influence:
Chinese aid and business deals often come with strings attached. People fear that foreign powers may slowly control our ports, land, or resources through debt or secretive agreements.

🔹 Unfair Business Practices:
In many parts of PNG, Chinese companies are accused of bringing their own workers, underpaying locals, or damaging the environment—especially in logging, fishing, and mining.

🔹 No Cultural Respect or Integration:
Many feel that Chinese and Russian visitors or investors don’t take time to understand PNG culture, language, or customs. This creates social tension.

🔹 PNG Stands for Peace and Respect:
We don’t support wars, invasions, or powerful countries bullying weaker ones. Our region needs fairness, peace, and true partnership—not foreign control.

🇵🇬 Tribal Fighting in Papua New Guinea: Time for Customary Solutions and Unity 🇵🇬

Tribal fighting continues to tear apart our communities, destroy lives, and hinder development in our beautiful country. What was once a way to resolve disputes has now become a cycle of violence that affects innocent people, especially women and children.

It's time we go back to our roots — our customs, our elders, and our traditional peace-building practices — to restore unity. True and lasting peace doesn’t come from outside enforcement alone. It starts within the community, through customary reconciliation, dialogue, and understanding.

With the support of PNG Peace and Restoration Incorporated Association, we are working hand in hand with local leaders, chiefs, women’s groups, and youth to:

✅ Facilitate tribal mediation and compensation processes
✅ Empower local peacemakers through training and resources
✅ Promote peace education in schools and communities
✅ Restore broken relationships through culturally accepted reconciliation ceremonies

Justice for Sandy Purel

Today, we lost a sister, a daughter, a friend, and a role model.

Sandy Purel, a proud graduate of the University of Papua New Guinea with a Bachelor of Accounting, was shot and killed by police this afternoon at the Waigani–Morata bus stop.

Sandy had worked hard, achieved her dreams, and was ready to give back to her community. Her life was taken in a moment of senseless violence—by those sworn to protect us.

We are heartbroken. We are angry. And we demand justice.

Her name will not be forgotten. Let her death not be in vain.

We call on the Royal PNG Constabulary and the Government of Papua New Guinea to act now:

Investigate and hold the responsible officers accountable

End police brutality

Restore public trust through meaningful reform

Rest in peace, Sandy. We will fight in your name.
