: Domestic not Foreign

Everybody claps when Police freeze the bank account of a "foreign company" with K4m of supposedly stolen funds. We are always looking outward for someone to blame and this fitted the bill perfectly. Does anyone ask who the locals were working with them in their corrupt deal? Make no mistake, foreigners may be taking advantage of our corrupt country, but the majority of corruption in PNG is performed by our own people. When we accept this and stop blaming the "corrupt foreigners leading us astray, then and only then, will PNG have a chance of killing the beast that afflicts us all - Corruption!

Chain of Custody
As America struggles with the Save America Act, which many feel is just a blatant voter suppression tactic, some possible elements of that fracas have comparisons in our NGE2027. State officials worry that the Federal Administration will seize ballot boxes in contentious electorates thus breaking the chain of custody of legitimate votes. This happens all the time in PNG. Thankfully not by the government but by opposing candidates. Ballot boxes are seized all the time. While the ballot boxes are out of official control the options for corruption are myriad. We have all seen videos of supporters feverishly filling in multiple ballots before then stuffing ballot boxes. In this way they affect the result and we get illegitimate candidates elected. How do we stop this? We could invoke a by-law that any box which falls out of the chain of custody automatically are put aside -or destroyed immediately - and cannot be counted . Or how about a fail safe on ballot boxes similar to what banks use when money is stolen. If a ballot box seal is broken by the wrong people a dye is released tainting everything inside. That would make it easy to spot illegal votes. Desperate times require desperate measures.

From the very beginning, the Missionary Sisters Servants of the Holy Spirit (SSpS), together with their brothers, the Divine Word Missionaries (SVD), played a vital role in the establishment and growth of the institution. Working alongside dedicated local staff and educators, they laid a strong foundation built on faith, academic excellence, and service to the people of Papua New Guinea.

Today, as Divine Word University continues to shape future generations, we remember with gratitude the vision, dedication, and sacrifices of these pioneering missionaries and educators. Their legacy lives on in the lives of countless graduates and in the continued mission of the University.
