Mosbi in June! Smoke haze, car exhaust, rubbish fires, dry-season dust and dusty roads can all irritate our lungs 🫁. When our lungs are irritated, people with undiagnosed Tuberculosis (TB) may notice their symptoms become worse, while others may mistake a TB cough for "just dust" or a seasonal irritation.

The Port Moresby dry season is a good reminder to look after your lungs. If you, a workmate, friend or family member has a cough, unexplained weight loss, fever, night sweats or tiredness, support them to get tested for TB. Call 76762482 for support

TB testing and treatment are free. Early testing means earlier treatment, less spread to others, and a faster return to work.

This dry season, don't ignore a cough. 😷 Call for Health 7676 2482

Australia’s 2026 diphtheria outbreak is a reminder for Australians working in or travelling to and the region: and Vaccination before travel matters.

Back in 2014, before social media misinformation and the word "influencer" was a thing, Australian health authorities noted diphtheria was rare in Australia because of high immunisation rates. Australians were warned of the ongoing risk linked to countries where the disease remained endemic. This includes PNG. ONE tragic death in Australia in 2011 followed exposure linked to travel from PNG. Yesterday, May 2026 there was another possible death with Diptheria reported, along with 220 new cases. Mostly in northern Australia and Indigenous communities.

Diphtheria spreads fast, especially where people live or work closely together. Businesses with staff moving between Australia and PNG should review vaccination status, update immunity, promote awareness, and encourage people with sore throat, fever or skin lesions to seek medical advice early. or call 7676 2482

Prevention is always cheaper. Prevention is kinder. Sickness and Death from Diptheria is preventable with vaccination. Stand by for updates from our friends at National Capital District Provincial Health Authority

Some of our newest TB Wardens at hospital. They are learning from their fabulous lab team about accurate diagnosis of that tricky hard-to-kill deadly mycobacterium Tuberculosis. Seeing šŸ‘€ is believing! This bacteria causes TB disease which killed 12,000 people in PNG last year!! Here B4H is reducing the risk of misdiagnosis, so your staff get the correct diagnosis, right treatment, faster. Thank you Sodeng and your teams!
