In our health facilities and communities across Papua New Guinea, clean hands are one of the strongest protections we have against infections. From nurses and health workers to mothers and children, hand hygiene helps keep everyone safe.

As a Christian Health Service, we believe that caring for others begins with simple, faithful actions. Washing our hands is not just a routineโ€”it is an act of love, responsibility, and service.

Let us all commit to:
โœ” Washing hands regularly with soap and water
โœ” Practicing good hygiene at home, work, and in our communities

World Hearing Day March 3 2026

Theme: From Communities to classrooms; Hearing care for all children

This year, World Hearing Day highlights the urgent need to protect childrenโ€™s hearing. Globally, around 90 million children aged 5โ€“19 years live with hearing loss. Yet more than 60% of childhood hearing loss is preventable through simple, costeffective public health measures such as ear care, immunization, and safe listening practices.
For those already living with ear diseases or hearing loss, early identification and care are crucial. Without timely support, children risk falling behind in school, missing out on development opportunities, and facing challenges in their future.
Schools and communities are natural entry points to reach children, parents, and teachers. By integrating hearing checks and care into school health and child health programmes, we can help children hear, learn, and succeed.
General call on families, schools, and communities to act nowโ€”so no child is left behind due to ear or hearing problems. Together, we can make hearing care a reality for all children in Papua New Guinea and beyond.
