𝗘𝗦𝗣𝗔 𝗦𝗜𝗚𝗡𝗦 𝗝𝗢𝗜𝗡𝗧 𝗬𝗢𝗨𝗧𝗛 𝗘𝗡𝗚𝗔𝗚𝗘𝗠𝗘𝗡𝗧 𝗔𝗖𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡 𝗣𝗟𝗔𝗡 𝗪𝗜𝗧𝗛 𝗡𝗬𝗗𝗔
Wewak, East Sepik Province - December 2025: The East Sepik Provincial Administration (ESPA) has taken an important step to support and empower young people in the province by hosting the National Youth Engagement Strategy (NYES) 2025 - 2029 Socialization Workshop and signing a Joint Action Plan with the National Youth Development Authority (NYDA).
The two-day workshop was held on Wednesday 17 and Thursday 18 December 2025 at the Boutique Hotel in Wewak. It brought together representatives from the provincial government, districts, local-level governments, community groups and partner organisations from across East Sepik Province.
The workshop allowed participants to learn more about the National Youth Engagement Strategy and discuss how it can work in East Sepik. Discussions focused on key issues affecting young people, including law and order, social unity, skills development and creating opportunities for young people to take part in the economy.
The program ended today with a formal signing ceremony, where the East Sepik Deputy Provincial Administrator Mr. Immanuel W ToMarum and the Director of Programs and Extension NYDA, Mr. Carl Gekoban signed a Joint Action Plan on behalf of the Provincial Administrator Mr. Samson Torovi and the Director-General of NYDA Mr. Joe Itaki. This agreement confirms a shared commitment to work together to improve youth programs and services in the province.
Speaking through the memorandum issued by the Office of the Deputy Provincial Administrator – Social Services Sector, the Provincial Administration emphasized that youth engagement remains central to advancing sustainable development outcomes in East Sepik Province. Through this action plan, both parties agreed to better coordinate youth activities and begin the process of setting up the East Sepik Provincial Youth Development Authority, as well as supporting youth structures at the district level.
As one of the final major government engagements for 2025, the workshop and signing reflect a strong commitment to continue working together in 2026 to create better opportunities and a brighter future for the young people of East Sepik Province.
