A Major Step Forward for Baiyer River LLG!

Yesterday, Voice for Change was honoured to attend the 1st Baiyer River LLG Assembly Meeting in Mount Hagen as part of the Women, Peace and Security (UNSCR 1325) Localization Process.

This marks a significant milestone as Baiyer River LLG Ward Councillors and the LLG President officially signed and endorsed the Community By-Laws, demonstrating their commitment to building safer, peaceful, and accountable communities.

Once formally adopted, Baiyer River LLG will become one of the 1st Local Level Governments in the Highlands Region to pass community by-laws a remarkable achievement that reflects strong local leadership.

Voice for Change is proud to stand alongside Baiyer River LLG and all stakeholders that drive change from the community level.

National Women’s Dialogue 2026 - Highlands Region

Earlier this week, Voice for Change was proud to host the National Women’s Dialogue 2026 – Highlands Region under the theme, “Climate Resilience and Rights: El Niño and Elections in this Poly-Crisis.”

Women leaders and stakeholders from Western Highlands, Southern Highlands, Eastern Highlands, Simbu, Hela, and Jiwaka came together to strengthen Women, Peace and Security strategies in response to the impacts of climate change and electoral challenges.

We sincerely thank all participating civil society organizations (CSOs), the Community Development Divisions of Western Highlands and Jiwaka, our development partners, the United Nations, the International Organization for Migration (IOM), and the WeRise Coalition for making this important dialogue possible. Your commitment and collaboration continue to strengthen women’s leadership and collective action across the Highlands.

🙏🏾 Thank you to everyone who took part in the dialogue and contributed to its success. We look forward to continuing to work together to support women leaders and strengthen peace, resilience, and community action across the Highlands.
