A big thank you to Bishop Brothers and Warrior Tanks for their generous donations to the UYEP Project.

Bishop Brothers contributed a wacker packer and chainsaw, while Warrior Tanks donated water tanks and a basin.

These valuable items will go a long way in strengthening our practical training activities and supporting the development of essential skills among our youth.

Together for a Safer Lae:

Community Concerns Turned into Action.
​When the community speaks, we listen.

After concerns were raised regarding the visibility of bollards at our temporary market area, the Lae City Authority (LCA) and the Lae Chamber of Commerce & Industry (LCCI) teamed up to find a solution.

​We are proud to announce that the bollards have received a vital safety upgrade! Thanks to the generous support of Dulux Group Ltd, these markers now feature high-visibility paint and reflective strips, ensuring our drivers can navigate the area safely, day or night.

​Special thanks to Pacific Development Support Services (PDSS) for their unwavering support and to the UYEP team for the hard work on the ground.

​This project is a testament to what we can achieve when the private sector, government and the community work hand-in-hand.

From UYEP trainee to international worker

One of our hardworking trainees successfully completed the Urban Youth Employment Project (UYEP) and, because of his dedication and performance, was offered a casual role after OJT with Albion Engineering Limited PNG here in Lae.

While working, he was accepted into the Labour Mobility Program, another initiative supported by Lae City Authority and Hon. John Rosso, and is now working in Brisbane

The photo shared shows him proudly completing his project and holding his TVET certificate, a symbol of his hard work and bright future ahead.

From training to employment

We’re proud to see three OJT graduates transition into formal employment with Quest Exploration Drilling (PNG) Ltd after completing their 8-week On-the-Job Training under the Urban Youth Engagement Project .

A big thank you to QED (PNG) Ltd for believing in our youths, and to the LCA, the initiator of UYEP in Lae, for championing youth employment and skills development.

Another milestone this week for UYEP trainees.

46 trainees from Intake #18 have successfully completed the UWS Phase and are now ready to move into the next phase of their journey. Well done to all for your hard work and commitment.

Also, as part of our visitation this week, we visited
L & C Pacific Enterprise, where three of our trainees are currently placed.

One male trainee, who already has sewing skills, shared his excitement about being placed there and is eager to further develop his talent and learn more from the team.

We are proud of our trainees and thankful to our host employers for their continued support.

Our sincere thanks to Hon. Deputy Prime Minister John Rosso for his ongoing support in empowering our young people through UYEP.

Lunaman Lookout.

Our hardworking UYEP trainees have been busy building and beautifying the Lunaman Lookout, creating a space for the people of Lae to relax, enjoy, and spend quality time with family.

From the lookout, you’re treated to stunning views of the stadium and Lae’s beautiful coastline. A true reminder of what our young people can achieve when given the opportunity.
