A GERMAN tourist has completed a daring trip from Port Moresby to Lae, alone, on a Suzuki DRZ 400cc dirt bike, making him the first person to do so.

Anton Seidl, 28, one for intense experiences, crossed three provinces, in three-and-a-half days, taking a route with no permanent road link.

THE Lae City Motorbike Club is continuing its community-based dirt bike training programme, now entering its fourth week, with growing interest from participants throughout Morobe.

Club secretary Adam Steven said the initiative began in 2020 when a group of local riders saw the need to change perceptions and build skills among Papua New Guineans.

“We started this training because people always say only overseas people ride motorbikes all the time. We asked ourselves, why not something start and train our people,” Steven said.
