What an amazing 2 days!🐾💚

We were invited by Southern Bridges International School to spend yesterday and today with their high school students for an interactive session on animal welfare and wildlife rescue.

The conversations were brilliant. From responsible pet ownership, to what to do when you find injured wildlife, to how small actions can make a big difference for animals in our communities.

This morning we had special guests join us too — the team from Port Moresby Nature Park ! Thank you for sharing your expertise on PNG wildlife and rescue work. The students loved the Q&A.

A huge thank you to the teachers and students at Southern Bridges for welcoming us, asking such thoughtful questions, and caring so much about animals. The future of animal welfare in PNG looks bright with you all in it ✨

Rescued yesterday by RSPCA.
This beautiful barn owl was found with its feet tied so tightly. It was too weak, hungry, and in pain to even move.
No animal deserves this.
We’re grateful it’s now safe and getting care. Please speak up if you see wildlife being harmed. 🙏 Protect our Natural Wildlife & Native Animals.

Let's Help Mimi find a family😻
Mimi is healthy, spayed, fully vaccinated, microchipped, and up to date with both internal and external parasite treatments.
She has a gentle and loving personality. She does not bite or scratch people, enjoys spending time with her owner, and is also happy to play with toys on her own. She is quiet, well-behaved indoors, and does not damage furniture. Although she is a little shy when meeting new people, she quickly warms up with a little time and patience and becomes very affectionate.
Mimi is fully litter trained, eats cat food, drinks well, uses a scratching pad, and has excellent indoor manners. She would make a wonderful indoor companion for someone looking for a gentle and loyal friend.

If possible, Mimi's previous owner would prefer to look for a home that:
• does not have any dogs;
• has someone who is financially able to provide for her long-term care, including veterinary expenses;
• is loving, patient, and committed to giving her a lifelong home; and
• ideally has a female primary caregiver, as I feel Mimi may be more comfortable and secure in that environment.

Some cats will be able to maintain their own claws when they are outside however some cats will require regular claw trimming to prevent overgrowth which can be painful. To trim your cats nails it is best to use cat nail clippers over human nail clippers to ensure safe trimming. To gain the best access to your cats nails gently push on the top of each toe to expose each claw. It is important to ensure you stay 2mm away from the end of the nail to ensure you don’t accidently cut them. Depending on your cat’s temperament, they may require treat distraction or a low-stress restraint such as a towel gently wrapped around their body.

The RSPCA PNG team had the best time with the Prep Explorer class today!

We brought along Wantok — our puppet show that teaches kindness, respect, and how to care for animals. The kids loved it, joined in the play, and even sang along with us.

Humane education is about planting seeds early. When children learn empathy for animals, we build safer, more compassionate communities for everyone.

Thank you to the teachers and Prep Explorers of Paradise College for the big smiles and big hearts. We can’t wait to come back 💙

KIMBE OUTREACH - Day 3 : Our team were over at Biala yesterday providing veterinary care to pets in Hargy. Awesome turn out by team Hargy ! Thank you for the hospitality and for taking care of our clinic team.🩵🐾 Its back to Kimbe today to continue with our scheduled appointments. 🐾🏥🚑🩵

Our team responded today to another rescue call. This time, a caged baby Cuscus being sold at 5mile.
Thank you to the member of the public who spotted him and reached out!🐾🩵
Did you know?
Cuscus are nocturnal marsupials native to PNG and are often threatened by habitat loss and being taken from the wild as pets. Babies cannot survive alone.❌🦦
