Touching The Untouchables is a National Non- Government Organization with 12 years’ experience of
delivering basic health services to the disadvantaged communities of Papua New Guinea. TTU
specialized in helping and promoting healthy lifestyle for communities in Water, Hygiene and Sanitation
and also giving support to improving health and wellbeing of women and children under its Safe
Motherhood Program. TTU advocates for the rights of displaced population and offer assistance within
the shelter, education, emergency food security, legal assistance and water, sanitation and hygiene
sectors.
TTU create a safer and more dignified health promoting life for women children and People with special
needs in Eastern Highlands Province and Papua New Guinea. It has approximately 115 committed and
competent employees involved in projects across twelve provinces in Papua New Guinea. In addition,
TTU runs one of the Papua New Guinea’s top and research proven Community Health Promotion and
Maternal& Infant health Programs such as Healthy Island PNG Concept, Menstrual Hygiene
Management especially reusable sanitary pads & kits; and pre and post natal care of women and
strengthening the government system of identification, report and refer for specialized attention. And
contributed to developing national health information system and three national policies of Papua New
Guinea.
Touching the Untouchables is seeking qualified and experience professionals to apply for the various
positions under our Gender program through the (SPOTLIGHT) initiatives.
1. 4x Gender based violence officers: (SPOTLIGHT)
We are looking for 4X qualified and experienced professionals in our Gender Based Violence
programme. The Applicant must have experience in Gender Based Violence (GBV) Programming,
Case Management, Gender project management and community development to work as a
Gender Based Violence (GBV) officer. The GBV officer will design strategies and do community
mobilization to respond to emerging gender issues affecting Western Province woman and girls.
She/he will facilitate trainings on core principles of Child Protection, GBV and Standard
Operating Procedures and Referral Pathway. She/he will assist in developing awareness
materials that are targeted towards children, young adults and women in the referral pathway.
Support the organization and implementation of safety audits in high risk communities and stay aware of the findings.
Minimum Qualification
Bachelor Degree in Social Science, Education, Development studies,
Gender studies or related field.
Minimum work experience of at least three years
Understanding of PNG GBV Strategies and Laws
Excellent writing skills including experience in drafting reports and presentations
Experience in doing baseline survey and community mobilization
Willing to work during emergency and managing work pressure
Respect to diversity and ability to work within organized women’s group and associations
Respect to diversity and ability to work within rural and disadvantaged community
Respect to diversity and ability to work within below average availability of government services
and environment
Gender sensitive and ability to reflect women and girls needs on programmatic design
Flexibility and adaptability
Strong organizational and team working skills
Good cultural awareness and sensitivity
High approachable, trustworthy and confidential
High ability to use EXCEL in data analysis and presentation. Other software programs like MS
Access and MS Project is added value
Knowledge of the NGO operations and the dynamics of the humanitarian program
Strong Polis Motu and English language skills in both written and verbal
Strong local vernacular language skills in both written and verbal
Significant experience in conducting trainings in adult learning mode
Significant experience interpreting and demonstrating the dynamics of government plans and
policies
