January is Cervical Cancer Awareness Month.

Cervical cancer is the most common cancer among women in PNG and leads to around 1500 preventable deaths every year. The majority of cervical cancer cases are caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV), an extremely common virus that is spread through skin-to-skin contact and usually has no symptoms. Cervical cancer is one of the most preventable cancers when detected and treated early. and develops in a woman’s cervix, the lower part of the uterus or womb, which opens into the va**na. Routine screening is your best protection against cervical cancer. You should still get tested if you have had the HPV vaccine, have been through menopause and feel healthy and have no symptoms. Through prevention, screening and treatment, together we can end cervical cancer in our communities.

Sir Brian Bell Foundation and CPL Foundation Inc. are working in partnership to provide cost-friendly cervical cancer screening in POM. THE increase in wholesale, retail, and drum-filling prices for petrol, diesel, and kerosene will be effective from Jan 8 next year, according to the Independent Consumer and Competition Commission (ICCC).

Acting chief executive officer Brian Ivosa said the annual adjustments were in accordance with the determinations of the 2024 Petroleum Industry Pricing Review, applying in the five-year (2024 to 2029) regulatory period.

He said that the wholesale margin would increase by 2.62 per cent to 29.35 toea per litre in 2026.

The drum-filling price has increased by 2.59 per cent to 10.57 toea per litre in 2026.

Joint Gou & Noubada Community Neighborhood Watch gathering at Noubada Community to witness Launching of Noubada NHW Uniforms and Surrendering of 10 x Home-brew production items by Youths who have voluntarily come forward to support Law & Order Incentives in making Sebore, Noubada and Gohu Communities a better place into 2026 . Community have agreed to partner with Village Court, Councilors and LLG/Ward reps with the enforcement of the Rule of Law within the Community. The church leaders have also mobilized to participate in the Community Law & Order concept. Thanks to Central Province Rural Commander and Inspector Lua for supporting today’s engagement!
