Last year, Wabumari community received K127,000 from Cool Earth as part of the partnership agreement. These funds were not distributed to households but were instead invested into locally led projects for the community this year.🌿🌳
Previously, cash was always distributed to households, and families used the money as a source of income to buy basic needs such as rice, sugar, and stationery for their children. The income also supported them financially and helped pay their children’s school fees.😌
This year, the community-based organisation used their funds to buy pig fences for 69 households and a dinghy and engine for the community. Cash was also put aside for women to have their ovens built for baking and cooking.👍🙂
