First volunteer opportunity for the SEAoT members was a great success!! Had a wonderful group spend a couple of hours at the San Antonio Food Bank doing some heavy lifting and serious produce bag packing! Check out the totals from just 2 1/2 hours of volunteer time that SEAoT members joined for! We can tell that our members love giving back to those in need. Great job everyone!

Our October chapter meeting was a huge hit where we got to learn more about professional liability, things to consider with providing professional services, and some things to avoid as well! Thank you to Mr. Jim Jimmerson with USI for coming out to speak to us!

Alpine TrusSteel presented to us about the use of Cold Formed Steel Truss systems and how they can be integrated as structural elements! Talk about a great option to consider! Thank you to Mr. Ryan Erickson for presenting to us today.

July is a special month for our chapter as we award thousands of dollars in scholarship money to very deserving students!! It’s always amazing to hear what they’ve accomplished and their goals at such a young age. Also, we honored one of our long standing scholarship committee chair, Mr. Justice Edge, with a token of gratitude from the chapter for his years of amazing service!! We also got to learn about the structural engineering hurdles crossed in the design of Ada’s newest high rise, 300 Main!

June was IdeaStatica month for our members! Wish we’d had this in school… would’ve made those 8 page calc problems quite a bit easier to traverse! Thank you Yann for coming out and presenting to us!

We changed it up a bit for our May meeting by visiting NAPCO Pre-cast plant. What a great opportunity to learn about the pre-cast process and get up close to structural members that typically look a lot smaller than they really are! Thank you to Jaime Ozuna, PE for arranging this and letting us come by to visit.

Monthly membership meeting back in April where we got to learn about applications for welded wire mesh! Happy to have Mr. Stephen Flora with InSteel present to us.

SEAoT Board members volunteered at the SA Food Bank back in April!! This was a test run to gauge interest in future volunteer events and get an understanding of how it all works. Be on the look out for information on the next opportunity coming in November!
