The Mountain Sentinels Alliance Fellowship offers Fellows the opportunity to apply for additional travel or educational experiences, including the International Mountain Conference in Innsbruck, Austria. One of our 2024 Fellows, Riza Annisa Anggraeni , attended the conference in 2025, and shared her experience with us online through these beautiful videos.

CALL FOR APPLICATIONS!

Mountain Sentinels’ Fellowship Program offers leadership, mentorship, research and educational opportunities to students, postdocs, youth, practitioners, and community members who are living, working, or from the mountains.

Applicants are invited to submit a proposal for new or ongoing projects. Individuals who are under-served and/or under-represented in science are encouraged to apply.

Today, on International Mountain Day and in the spirit of this UN International Year of Glaciers’ Preservation, we are excited to share a short video from our latest Moving Mountains Summit.

Mountain Sentinels, Peruvian NGO Instituto de Montaña, and community-based group ABA Ayacucho co-hosted Hatun Tinkuy, an international dialogue between academics, practitioners, educators, students, community knowledge holders, and Indigenous rights-holders.

In December 2024, we were honored to welcome 72 individuals from ten countries and over eleven Andean communities from across the region to Huaraz, Peru. The meeting venue boasted a stunning view of the glaciers of the Cordillera Blanca mountains as the group built relationships with each other while sharing knowledge, ideas, and approaches to community resilience to climate threats.

Greetings to all from Belém, Brazil!

Mountain Sentinels is excited to have a delegation at UNFCCC COP30 and will be contributing through several events and partner collaborations.

Visit us at Booth 13 for the Mountain Sentinels, Instituto de Montaña, Colorado Universities and Research Institute Exhibit until Saturday, November 15th. We will be featured and available to talk to people all day on November 13th with Instituto de Montaña, and on November 14th with Colorado State University. Join us this Thursday, November 6th for a Virtual Coffee Talk and Discussion! ☕️

With UNFCCC COP30 on the horizon, this Virtual Coffee will feature insights from , , and on efforts to bring mountains and youth into global policy discussions.

Speakers will share past achievements, future goals, and ideas for engaging youth in climate action. The session will also offer space for participants to exchange experiences and reflections on how to strengthen the mountain voice in climate processes.
