Picaflor House Community Project

Picaflor House provides an after-school programme and community support to a poor rural community in Peru.

Oropesa is a 45-minute bus ride from the magnificent city of Cusco, Peru, the oldest cont

inually inhabited city in South America and the staging post for Machu Picchu. The project works closely with the local school in Oropesa to provide the most required services to the children attending the school. The children come from the poorer families of the villages we support.

¡Nuestro programa de empoderamiento femenino sigue creciendo y llegando a nuevas comunidades.🌱
Liderados por una psicóloga especializada en población adolescente, este grupo de jóvenes ha estado aprendiendo a desarrollar su confianza, a reconocer y comprender sus emociones, y a explorar lo que significa crecer como mujer joven en la actualidad.
Muchísimas gracias a New Zealand Embassy - Santiago, Chile por hacer posible este programa. Sin su generoso apoyo, no habríamos podido poner en marcha este proyecto.
¡Estamos emocionados por ver cómo estas jóvenes se convierten en líderes de su comunidad! ✨

This Father's Day, we celebrated in a very special way at Picaflor House! 💙
Our families came together for an afternoon filled with laughter, connection, and fun. Each teacher prepared a unique activity for fathers, mothers, and children to enjoy together, creating special memories through play and teamwork.
We ended the day sharing delicious snacks and celebrating the wonderful dads and father figures who are such an important part of our community. Thank you to every family who joined us—we loved spending this special day with you! 💛

At the Picaflor fair a few weeks ago, one of the parents brought along a little sister to one of the boys.

While everyone else was at the fair, she discovered the toys in our little sand area… and basically moved in 😄
When it was time to go home… she wasn’t interested.
First her brother tried to convince her to come nicely. No chance.

Then mum stepped in, picked her up, and she started yelling “¡Ayuda! ¡Ayuda! ¡Ayuda!” like she was being kidnapped 😂
