Sacred Valley Health

Sacred Valley Health Sacred Valley Health’s core purpose is to improve health in Andean Communities by empowering promotoras de salud.

We believe that by empowering community health workers, to become agents of change in their communities, we can see positive health outcomes in the communities where we work in the Sacred Valley of Peru. We strive to center all areas of our work around the following core values: empowerment, access, education, collaboration, cultural competency, and equity. Our work is grounded in Community Partne

red Participatory Approaches, and we strive for equal partnership with program participants as we develop, implement, and evaluate programs. Our core programming focuses on training and supporting Community Health Workers, locally called promotoras de salud, in health topics, leadership, and teaching methods. Promotoras serve their home communities by providing health education and basic care, identifying those needing advanced care and helping them navigate the health system, and creating positive change for the well-being of the whole community.

On July 1, an anemia screening campaign was held at Quelqanqa Primary School, along with general medical checkups for all students. ❤️

This meaningful health initiative brought together the PAIS Program of Peru’s Ministry of Development and Social Inclusion (MIDIS), Corazones para Perú, and Alfalit. 🤝🏽🇵🇪

Ayniwasi’s community health workers actively supported the organization and implementation of every activity throughout the day. 👩🏽‍⚕️🌿

We sincerely thank ANIA and Help Perú for their valuable support in making this campaign possible. 💚🙌🏽

Together, we continue strengthening access to preventive healthcare for children in rural communities. 🏔️🩺✨

As part of the Adolescent Leadership in the Sacred Valley initiative—focused on gender empowerment, strengthening local identities, and peer-to-peer learning—we hosted a powerful workshop on identity, gender, leadership, and cultural heritage ✨

With the incredible support of teacher Violeta Quispe (Asociación Vigas), 50 girls from 8 communities across the Sacred Valley came together to reflect, share experiences, and build collective strength 💫

This space was further enriched by the presence of representatives from the Ministry of Culture of Peru and CRESPIAL, strengthening the dialogue between youth leadership and cultural heritage preservation 🌿

This initiative is led by Ayniwasi Sacred Valley Health, in collaboration with Casa Kushka, Future Sense, and Museo Alqa—organizations deeply committed to community-centered development.

This project is proudly supported by Together Women Rise 💜

We are proud to announce the launch of our community health promotora training program in the district of Vilcabamba, in La Convención province—located in the high jungle of Cusco. 🌿

Known as the last refuge of the Incas, Vilcabamba carries a deep historical and cultural legacy. Today, that legacy continues through community leadership and the strengthening of local health knowledge.

Through this program, promotores and promotoras will be trained to bring culturally grounded health education to their communities, ensuring that care is both accessible and rooted in local realities.

This initiative is made possible with the support of the Municipality of Vilcabamba.

✨ Strengthening health from within the community.
