Health Bridges International, Inc. We champion children and the communities that care for them. Health Bridges International, Inc.

(HBI) envisions a world where every child has access to health, hope, home, and purpose. We collaborate and partner with the government, private and nonprofit organizations, and other programs toward healthy and fulfilling lives for youth and families. In Perú, poverty, violence at home, and a lack of coordinated support leave thousands of children and youth abandoned in the streets, enduring poor living conditions without access to proper care. HBI works to improve child welfare and family support through replicable models (Centers of Excellence) that train institutional caregivers and healthcare professionals, cultivate evidence-based practices within youth-focused programs, and influence government policy. For almost 30 years, HBI’s Centers of Excellence have been providing Perúvian youth and families access to resources, knowledge, and skills they need to break through poverty and build the lives they deserve.

Twenty years of Health Bridges International have been organized around that one sentence. It is why we invest in caregivers before curricula, why our homes are staffed by people who come back every morning, and why the people in the room at Andina Restaurant on September 30 matter as much as what is raised there.

Here is how the evening goes.

At 5:30 pm the doors open at Andina Restaurant in Portland. Cocktails and the silent auction begin. Dinner follows, prepared by the Andina kitchen. Then a short program: twenty years of Health Bridges International, told by the people who lived it, from Portland and from Perú.

Two homes. One family.

In the Sacred Valley near Urubamba and in the city of Arequipa, about sixty boys who once lived outside parental care are growing up with adults who stay. Tíos who come back every morning. Cooks who know who does not like onions. Social workers who sit through the hard conversations and are still there the next day.

Twenty years.

Health Bridges International was formed in 2006 by a small group of people who kept going back to Perú and could not stop thinking about the children they met there. The idea was simple and it has not changed since: health, home, hope, and purpose, for every child, inside a community that values their dignity.

Over two decades that idea became two homes, tens of thousands of caregivers trained, a body of research, and a family that stretches from Portland to Arequipa to the Sacred Valley.

We're having a party, and this one is 20 years in the making.

Twenty years of Health Bridges International. Countless roads walked, one family formed along the way. On Wednesday, September 30 we gather at Andina Restaurant in Portland to celebrate all of it: the homes, the caregivers, the children, and the people in this city who have stood with us since 2006.

Doors open at 5:30 pm. Dinner, a silent auction, and the stories that got us here.

One night only, and the room is small. $170 per person.

A Bridge to Change returns to Andina Restaurant on Wednesday, September 30th, starting at 5:30 pm.

Bocaditos and Pisco Sour cocktails to open, a silent auction in the middle, and a wine-paired Peruvian dinner built course by course by the Andina kitchen.

We are one month out, and the room is filling. Every seat funds the caregivers who hold formerly abandoned children in Perú, day after day, long after the dinner ends.
