Health Bridges International, Inc.

Health Bridges International, Inc. We champion children and the communities that care for them. Health Bridges International, Inc.

(HBI) envisions a world where every child has access to health, hope, home, and purpose. We collaborate and partner with the government, private and nonprofit organizations, and other programs toward healthy and fulfilling lives for youth and families. In Perú, poverty, violence at home, and a lack of coordinated support leave thousands of children and youth abandoned in the streets, enduring poor

living conditions without access to proper care. HBI works to improve child welfare and family support through replicable models (Centers of Excellence) that train institutional caregivers and healthcare professionals, cultivate evidence-based practices within youth-focused programs, and influence government policy. For almost 30 years, HBI’s Centers of Excellence have been providing Perúvian youth and families access to resources, knowledge, and skills they need to break through poverty and build the lives they deserve.

Some healing doesn’t happen all at once—it grows quietly, like a garden. 🌱
At Casa Girasoles, every child is given more than a place to stay. They’re given time, care, and a community that shows up—day after day—until trust takes root and something beautiful begins to grow.
From small moments in the garden to laughter shared in the courtyard, this is what it looks like when children are truly seen, supported, and believed in.
Because when you plant a child in safe soil and surround them with love, they don’t just survive—they bloom. 🌻

Small moment, real impact, the tools and time that make learning possible.
Home is more than a roof: it’s routine, dignity, and the chance to exhale.
We are committed to providing the best educational opportunities to our kids, and that means starting with professional educators who accompany our children from kindergarten onwards.
This is what donor-funded stability looks like. Every day, it shows up in consistent support, in learning environments built on care, and in the chance for each child to grow and thrive in Peru.

A small moment, a real impact: the tools and time that make learning possible.
We are committed to providing the best educational opportunities for the children in our care, and that starts with professional educators who accompany them from kindergarten onwards—offering consistency, structure, and encouragement as they grow.
Home is more than a roof. It’s routine, dignity, and the chance to exhale. It’s having the support to learn, explore, and build confidence one day at a time.
This is what donor-funded stability looks like in Peru—the everyday systems that make long-term growth possible.

Through programs like Gravel Camp, children aren't just supported from afar. You get to come see the spaces where they live, grow, and explore who they are, building a strongly connected community that makes the saying "it takes a village" come to life.

Idk something like that. We want to emphasize "it takes a village" for the programs that have donors interacting with our programs.

Daily routines- this is how HBI brings dignity to life
Home is more than a roof- it’s a routine, stability, and the chance to exhale. Through programs like Gravel Camp, children aren’t just supported- they’re given space to move, explore, and imply be kids in Peru.
At HBI, we partner locally, invest in people and systems, and center every decision around the child. That’s what sustainable, dignified care looks like.

I saw St. Mary’s Academy’s Hadestown with our daughter—and I’m still carrying it with me.
It was breathtaking. The singing, choreography, pacing, and musicianship all came together with quiet confidence and shared purpose. What struck me most was the collective commitment behind it.
At St. Mary’s, students are encouraged to live for something bigger than themselves: to show up, carry their part, and practice excellence as service. Watching them, I thought about our work at Health Bridges International. Real change—whether in child well-being, trauma recovery, or community resilience—is never solo work. It requires collaboration, patience, and trust.
If a group of teenagers can create such beauty through shared purpose, we can keep building what we’re building: strengthening homes, supporting staff, and creating spaces where children can heal and thrive.
To everyone who supports HBI: thank you for being part of this collective effort

Right now, somewhere in the world, spring is beginning while autumn settles in — a reminder that change isn’t something we resist, it’s something we move through. At Health Bridges International, our work reflects those same rhythms: seasons of growth, challenge, reflection, and renewal. Through it all, our mission remains constant — building evidence-based programs that support children and strengthen communities, no matter how the landscape shifts. To our partners and supporters, thank you for staying with us through every season.

Health looks different in every community — and understanding those perspectives is where real impact begins. 🌎 Through our recent research in the Andes, in collaboration with Amity Calvin and Rebecca Cantone, we’re deepening how we think about wellness, culture, and care. At the same time, we’re proud to be working alongside Artemis Associates and University of Maryland, Baltimore to expand access to child developmental screening tools in Peru — helping ensure more children are seen, supported, and set up to thrive early in life. This is what it looks like to turn research into action.

Health is the foundation—especially for mothers, newborns, and children recovering from trauma. Because of your support, that foundation becomes something real, tangible, and life-saving.
It looks like safe pregnancies and healthy births.
It looks like newborns getting the care they need in their first, most vulnerable moments.
It looks like children healing—not just physically, but emotionally—with consistent, compassionate support.
And just as importantly, it looks like the dedicated, steady staff who make all of this possible every single day.
As we approach National Public Health Week (April 6–12), we’re reminded that strong health systems don’t happen by chance—they’re built through community, commitment, and people like you.
Your support doesn’t just fund programs. It creates stability, care, and possibility where it’s needed most.
