As of yesterday, we have six beautiful children in our care. We have three newborns, who are just days old, and three infant/toddlers. The interesting part to me, and one I did not think about at all, is that this children's home is reaching nations, not just Peru. Our oldest toddler, who is three, is from Venezuela. Our two year sweetheart is from Peru and then our newborns are from Columbia and Argentina. We are truly reaching the nations.
My prayer is that these children will one day return to their home country and be bold about their faith in Jesus but right now in their developmental years and their time with us, we are thoroughly enjoying them.
Our two year old calls Greg and I mama and papa. I told her that I was mama but that Greg was abuelo (grandfather in Spanish). Our beautiful ladies who care for these precious babies had a good laugh when hearing me.
Our ten month old even got a bit jealous that I was holding the two year old and began to cry. The two year old got off my lap to go play so I picked up the 10 month old and she hugged me so tight and called me mama. Oh Jesus protect my heart. I have not seen her smile until today!
As soon as we can have a judge to say these children are adoptable, I will let anyone who is interested know.
To you Americans coming to Peru this year, I can't wait for you to meet these precious children. As you know, there will be rules for us all regarding these babies, but we will still have plenty of time to hold, pray over, hug, and kiss.
