What a beautiful and meaningful night as we gathered for our annual Christmas Gala, a time set aside to celebrate the Christmas season with grateful hearts and to keep Christ at the center of it all.
This event is something we look forward to every year. Here in Peru, December marks the end of the school year, the close of many year-end activities, and also the conclusion of our volunteers’ service term. It is a moment to pause, reflect, and give thanks for all that God has done throughout the year. During this evening, we had the joy of honoring our volunteers, presenting them with certificates and small gifts as a way of saying thank you for the love, dedication, and sacrifice they poured into the lives of our children and into this ministry.
The heart of ABBA has always been to love people as Christ loves us, and that begins with our own team and workers. This night was about celebrating them, serving them, and reminding them how valued they are. The atmosphere was full of joy, gratitude, laughter, and genuine fellowship. It truly was a special time together.
The children also had the opportunity to sing and present their songs, and they absolutely loved it. Seeing their confidence, joy, and excitement as they shared was a beautiful reminder of the life and hope being nurtured within them. Moments like these are deeply meaningful for our children and for all of us who get to walk alongside them.
One of the most powerful moments of the evening came through Sebastian, now a young man and a chef, who presented his own dish at the gala. As he shared, he reminded us that he grew up in the Puerto Alegría home, dreaming one day of cooking for events like this. To see him standing there, serving with excellence, was a full-circle moment and a beautiful testimony of what hope, opportunity, and perseverance can produce.
We left the night full of gratitude for what God is doing and has done among us. What a blessed time together, celebrating life, service, growth, and the birth of our Savior.
God is good. Always.
