Do You Want to Know Our “Why?”
We appreciate all donations for our continuing work. Please contact us for donation procedures. [email protected] Thank you kindly.
In 2009 Changes for New Hope was created to reach children in the Peruvian Andes who are living in destitution and impoverishment. Our 3 main focuses are: * Haz lo Correcto-Do the Right Thing teaching values and honest living. Character and integrity building * Self esteem enhancement via art projects and exhibitions. To date we have held 8 art exhibitions 5 of which were in national museums. * Fighting anemia and malnutrition by way of multiple vitamins, vitamin A supplements and albendazole which is a medicine used to kill parasites. In Ancash region where we work, anemia is reported to be the worst in all of Peru. * We also provide a safe place for children to come to, for learning, recreation, we provide clothing and shoes, school materials and books, games and toys and give the children an opportunity to have a memorable childhood. * We have recently expanded to reach and empower women also. Eco-friendly hand crank laundry washing units are now being distributed to indigenous women to relieve the time and physical labor intensive hand washing in cold rivers by hand. We provide books to encourage literacy and education for them as well.
In 2017 Jim Killon was the recipient of the David Chow Humanitarian Award for his years of selfless work in the Peruvian Andes helping destitute children. Julian Lennon, (son of Cynthia and John Lennon) has supported and recognized Changes for New Hope via The White Feather Foundation since 2012. Over 3000 children have been reached by our project.
