And We're back !

Peru Crew have officially landed back on British soil!
Whilst things will be little quieter on here, we will continue to share some of our highlights from Peru
whilst building up to our next big trips !

A huge thanks to each and every one if you who has attended and supported us, especially to our wonderful leaders, our fabulous attendees and all those who supported us from the North West and beyond. You have made this trip what it is!

Although this trip has come to an end, it marks the start of a new chapter for each and every member of the Peru Crew

Pisaq

During our trip through the Sacred Valley, we enjoyed visiting various sites, including Pisaq ancient Inca site and townsite.

Pisaq is a large inca settlement comprised of houses and terraces . It includes the largest Inca graveyard identified to date.

Don't forget to add Salt!

During our trip through the Sacred Valley, we visited Salineras de Maras, a working salt mine.

The salt mine produces various types of salt, including Perus famous pink salt. We were treated to a visit to a salt tasting where we sampled various salts.

Ready, Steady...Cook!!!!

We had a lovely day in our project teams learning about Peruvian cuisine including ingredients, cooking techniques and recipes .

We made Lomo Saltado, Trout Cevice and Causa de Pollo. The food was a flaming success!

To finish we even made Pisco Sours, a classic peruvian cocktail!

Lake Day

For our final day in Cusco , some of the Peru Crew opted to visit Humantay Lake. Flags came out for our final day in the Cusco region and lots of pictures by the lake

Nestled at the base of Mt Humantay in the Vilacamba range of the Andes, Humantay lake is a stunning mountain lake , sitting at approximately 14k feet.

A challenging but beautiful uphill hike or ride leads to a beautiful turquoise lake. Rhona was especially chuffed to reach the summit, having looked forward to visiting Humantay lake since being selected for Peru.

No Probllama!

As you may have guessed, we have loved seeing Alpacas, Vicuna, Llamas and Huanco throughout our trip.

Peru is home to various camelid species. We enjoyed learning about them and meeting them on a visit to Manos de la Comunidad, a living museum close to Cusco.

Everywhere we go....

As a Girlguiding international, many of us brought tokens from our units and counties. We wanted to make sureeveruwheee we go, we carry our units, districts and counties with us.

During our trip through Willka Qhichwa ( The Sacred Valley of the Incas ) , we got together for some county photos to send back home.

From Camp Blankets to flags, neckers and badges, we have all made sure that everyone knows

Per Crew Rainbows , Assemble!

A number of our group opted to visit Vinicunca, known more widely as Rainbow Mountain! They were treated to amazing views of the mountain of seven colours.

Just like Palccoyo, the mountains colours come from the mineral deposits. Up until a few years ago the mountain was covered by a glacier, concealing the rainbow underneath .

Rainbows at Palccoyo

Some of the Peru Crew opted to visit Palcoyyo.
Palcoyyo is renowned as a hidden gem .

The valley has not one, but three rainbow mountains and offers beautiful views of the Red Valley and beyond

We learned how the colours and how they are formed from the deposition of various minerals. The geologists and scientists in our group were certainly in their element.

With the skilful help from our guide,the whole group were able to make the .most of our trip to Palccoyo, proving as always that

Meet the Rainbows....

Peru is home to not just one , but many rainbow mountains

Peru Crew visited Vinicunca , known as "Montaña de Los Siete Colores" or Rainbow Mountain and Palccoyo, a lesser known but no less beautiful valley with not just one but multiple rainbow mountains.
