At AbrePuertas, we believe that the way out of poverty is education, and we work to empower all members of the community to improve their lives through education. We work in the community of Coya, in the Sacred Valley outside of Cusco, Peru, where the public education falls short and many people don’t make it through high school, and almost none reach college. Despite the difficult life many famil
ies lead, they value education for their children and their selves, and we are working with them to expand their opportunities to learn skills to help them economically as well as enrich their lives. Please find out more about our cause, and collaborate with us toward a more empowered world. Somos AbrePuertas, y creemos que el camino para salir de la pobreza es la educación. Trabajamos en la comunidad de Coya, en el Valle Sagrado, en el distrito de Cusco, Perú, donde la educación no es la adecuada y muchas personas no se graduan de la secundaria, y casi nadie alcanza a la Universidad. A pesar de una vida dura, ellos ponen mucho valor en la educacion para sus hijos y si mismos, y trabajamos con ellos para expandir sus oportunidades de aprender habilidades que les ayuden economicamente y mejoren su calidad de vida. Eventualmente imaginamos dejar un centro educativo auto-sostenible en Coya y repitiendo el mismo ciclo en otros pueblos parecidos.
