There was a quiet rhythm to our summers back then. No one was rushing to get anywhere, and yet we never felt like we were missing out. We'd spend hours wandering outside, completely losing track of time until the sun started to dip below the hills. Looking back at these old photos, I'm reminded of how simple things used to be—just good friends, open air, and all the time in the world.

There’s something so special about looking back at old photos of my mom from before I was even around. Just leaning against that classic Chevelle on a blazing hot afternoon, completely caught up in a genuine laugh. No filters, no screens, no distractions—just the crunch of the gravel underfoot, the slow pace of a seventies summer, and that effortless, sun-drenched style.

It’s funny how a single, faded snapshot can bring a whole era right back to life. They really don't make summers—or cars—quite like they used to. ☀️

Looking back at this. It was simpler times. Just the comfort of that wood-paneled basement, the glow from the lava lamps, and some really good music on the stereo. You can almost feel the texture of the corduroy and the warmth of the room. It’s small moments like these that stick with you.

Looking back at this. Such a peaceful day up at the lake. Everything felt simpler then—just sun-warmed vinyl, that perfect 70s light, and nowhere else to be. Miss those easy, unscripted moments sometimes.

A very simple but warm memory.

Nothing beat those long, humid evenings where the hours just stretched out ahead of you. No big plans, no expensive trips—just sitting out on the porch with a cold drink, catching up with friends, and laughing until your stomach hurt. Everything felt so much simpler when the biggest worry of the weekend was whether you had enough gas to get to the beach and back. It’s funny how the moments that cost the absolute least always end up being the ones you hold onto the tightest.

That one guy in the background has been “relaxing for five minutes” since 2PM and still hasn’t moved 😭☀️

Meanwhile, she’s out there looking like every forgotten summer memory wrapped into one photo — backyard heat, crooked lawn chairs, and somebody’s dad yelling, “DON’T SLAM THAT SCREEN DOOR!” 😂🌿

The kind of scene where nothing is really happening… yet somehow it becomes the moment everybody remembers years later. There’s something so comforting about those slow, heavy afternoons where time just completely stops, and the only agenda is finding a patch of shade. 🤍✨

There was a distinct kind of quiet back then, even on the busiest days by the lake. Just the sound of the water lapping against the wood of the dock, a faint breeze through the pines, and the radio humming softly from the back of the wagon. No one was in a hurry to be anywhere else. We’d just sit out there until the sun dipped low enough to turn the whole sky warm, holding onto those slow, uncomplicated afternoons for as long as we could. Some summers just stay with you.

Some summers just refuse to fade. July 1976 by the old riverbank—no phones, no plans, just a car trunk full of cold sodas and a radio playing low in the background. We spent the whole afternoon trying to muster up the courage to jump off that old wooden bridge, laughing so hard our ribs hurt before anyone even touched the water. Looking at this now, you can almost still smell the sun-baked grass and the river water.
