Recent study in Choccepuquio. The village of Choccepuquio is a Quechua farming community located in the district of Ocobamba, in the province of Chincheros, in the Apurímac region of Peru.
Literacy is especially important for Quechua women because it provides greater access to education, healthcare, employment opportunities, and the ability to advocate for their families and communities. It also helps preserve and strengthen the Quechua language and cultural identity for future generations. Many Quechua-speaking women in rural Peru have historically faced barriers to education, making literacy programs a powerful tool for empowerment and meaningful participation in society.
