Jangalayacu Conservation Program

Jangalayacu Conservation Program Sustainable forest management by Amazonia's Cordillera Escalera Conservation Area

"Jangalayacu" (jungle water) is the name of our conservation site
since it is surrounded by streams on three sides, one of them
the Huallaga river, Peru's third longest. The site contains a
primary rainforest and also seeks to sustain water as a life
resource, the main conservation object of the Cordillera Escalera
Conservation Area which Jangalayacu belongs to. Along its eastern
end runs the Sh*t

ariyacu stream on its mid and lower sections
before meeting the Huallaga, it is from this stream that the neighboring
population gets water. Key to the conservation of the site is
reaching a sustainable production of food and timber which should
go in hand with reducing extreme poverty and the non-sustainable
use of it.
