We work from a simple idea: learning happens together. 🌱
Our programs are rooted in local knowledge and built on real exchange — listening, sharing, questioning, and reflecting side by side. 🤝
We want every experience to mean something for everyone involved — communities, participants, and our team — grounded in relevance, humility, and respect for what’s already here.

The way we farm has a direct impact on the health of high–value ecological territories.
Depending on the approach, agriculture can either accelerate land degradation or become a powerful tool for environmental sustainability.
At the Andean Alliance for Sustainable Development (AASD), we work with an agroecological approach that builds on traditional knowledge, reduces dependence on external inputs, and works with natural ecosystem cycles.
This approach helps strengthen farming livelihoods while maintaining environmental balance in fragile territories like the cloud forest.

On May 3rd, we gathered in Humapata to celebrate the anniversary of .origenes Cooperative, alongside the coffee farmers who make this dream a reality.
A project born with the support of Andean Alliance, now fully led by the producers themselves.
Grateful to walk this journey together! 🌱

🌍 Earth Day reminds us: we’re not separate from nature — we’re part of it.

At Yungas, we work hand in hand with Indigenous and rural communities who grow coffee within complex, biodiverse agroforestry systems.

Today, and every day, we celebrate those who care for the land — not for extraction, but for connection. 🌱

We are co-hosting a coffee tasting event at SKOLL WORLD FORUM (.foundation) with Yungas Project, and

Sip & Learn: Story Behind Every Bean
An immersive coffee tasting and storytelling experience that takes you beyond the cup and into the heart of the coffee value chain. We are going to share how we’re building thriving communities for coffee farmers in Rwanda, Peru, Costa Rica, Mexico, and Colombia.

Have you ever heard about a Peruvian Yunza (or Tumbamonte)? 🌳🗡️

It is an ancient ritual celebration, typical during the carnival season, where people dance around a tree decorated with ornaments and gifts. 🎁

Participants take turns striking the tree with a machete, eagerly waiting for it to fall. During this ancestral celebration, people share music, dance, chicha (a typical drink done with fermented corn) and smiles, all in an atmosphere of joy and sharing. It is an honor to participate in a Yunza with the community, it means you are part of the family!💥💫🫶

Would you like to take part in a Yunza? 🕺🌳

🌱 ❤️ 🏕️ 🕰️

¿Te gustaría tomar parte en una Yunza? 🕺🌳

At AASD we are deeply grateful to the 7 youths from the .travel who joined us in Peru in the second half of February. Emma, Maggie, Sophie, Izzie, George, Will and Scarlett spent 2 weeks in the Andes and then explored the Amazon in Puerto Maldonado.🌿🏔

During the trip they fully embraced the local culture, they stayed with a host family and supported the local community of Sacllo, refurbishing the communal space that is used to host weddings, baptisms, celebrations, and community meetings. They learned about local culture and Andean wisdom and, through their visit, they supported our sustainable tourism initiatives. Your dedication and kindness have truly made a difference! ❤

Thank you for your meaningful work and for sharing this adventure with us ! 💫

This January, we had the pleasure of hosting Carl, Malaki, Leif, and Madelyn—four talented engineering students from St. Thomas University in Minnesota.
We are incredibly grateful for their hard work and dedication in designing tools to support our local coffee producers.
💥
For years, we’ve collaborated with UST’s engineering program, tackling real-world challenges that farmers in remote regions face. This time, the team focused on designing a key component for a coffee depulper, making coffee processing more efficient and repairable for local farmers. As they finalize their design, we’re excited to see the impact of their innovation!
💚☕
Beyond their technical contributions, they immersed themselves in a truly unique experience—connecting with local families, embracing Peruvian culture, and learning firsthand about the realities of high-altitude farming.

Thank you for sharing your knowledge and becoming part of the AASD family!
