Sowing Peace in Our Community

“Peace is not simply the silence of cannons or the absence of war, but an active construction that begins within each individual and extends outward into society. Reflecting upon it implies understanding it across three key dimensions: Inner Peace, Social Peace, and the Commitment to Build It.

Community peace requires a pact: that leaders open genuine spaces for participation, and that young people occupy those spaces with respect and constructive ideas. We need the wisdom of those who know the path, and the boldness of those who wish to transform it. When a young person and a leader work together on a project to improve the community, violence becomes unnecessary and fear dissipates.

Let us not allow peace to remain merely a concept in history books or a distant aspiration. Let us make it the guiding force behind every decision we make, so that peace may prevail throughout the world.”

With these words, the Rotary Club of Playa Coronado, the Rotary Club of Dove Mountain (AZ), along with friends and community leaders, celebrated the unveiling of Rotary’s first “Peace Pole” in Panama, located at the entrance to Playa Coronado.

This monument serves as an international symbol—one of over 250,000 located across 180 countries—reminding us of our shared responsibility to foster harmony within our community and throughout the world.

Save the date - March 12th.
Help Rotary with our projects assisting those most in need in our community.
Our projects have included providing 300 wheelchairs to people in need, delivering 11 tonnes of food during Covid as well as water for 6,000 people, and providing RACHEL systems containing the entire MEDUCA (Panama Ministry of Education) curriculum from K2 to 12 to over 50 schools that do not have internet access.
Our plans are to deliver RACHEL systems to another 40 schools this year - this fundraiser will assist us to do that. In 2026 we also plan to deliver over 100 more wheelchairs.
Please come out and give back to the people most in need in the local community where we are guests and enjoy a very nice life, even if you are just here for a short while.
