“The Mola Collection Returns to Panama!”

As a young Guna from Panama and part of this journey alongside the Geoversity Foundation, I want to invite the entire Panamanian nation to be part of this meaningful moment.
The collection is returning to its country, to the land where it was created and where its deep history belongs. For us, the Guna, molas and the carved healing “nuchus” are more than art: they are identity, memory, knowledge, and an expression of our culture and the way we understand the world.
As this initiative takes shape, the plan is to initially exhibit part of the collection at the Frank Gehry-designed Biomuseo, Panama’s museum of biodiversity, creating a space where we can welcome it with respect, sensitivity, and an open heart.
Nathan Gray joins me in expressing our gratitude to Thomas Hannaher, Margaret Gracia, Sandy Dierks and everyone who has helped make this journey possible.
We hope you will join us and welcoming this collection with respect and pride in our cultural diversity. May this initiative inspire curiosity, dialogue, and a genuine connection with our roots.
