Although we are over 5,000 Kilometers away from the United Kingdom, 1st Oman Scout Group is part of British Scouting Overseas, a part of the UK Scout Association that supports us and over 2,500 other members in 42 Scout Groups located at all points of the compass. As well as here in Oman, British Scouting Overseas Groups are located across the world, in such countries as the UAE, Kuwait, Qatar and
other Gulf States, China, The Falkland Islands, Germany, Luxembourg, Ascension Island and many other locations. British Scouting Overseas exist to support families around the world, where due to cultural or language barriers (and the fact that people from the UK living overseas may frequently move around), it is not always possible for young people from the UK to join local Scouts Groups in the country where they reside. Importantly, existing members of the UK Scouting Association who wish to continue their involvement with the Movement whilst living here in Oman can do so if they wish. We are supported by the British Scouting Overseas Area Team, also a team of volunteers, who bring their experience in sectional training, adult training and support, Scout Active Support and Duke of Edinburgh Award schemes.
