Rinitawa Art and History - Woodville

Rinitawa Art and History - Woodville In 2020 The Woodville Pioneer Museum and the Lindauer Studio have combined to form Woodville Art and History.

In 2022 the Gallery was renamed Rinitawa ART + History GALLERIES. The Art and History Galleries were established in September 2021. There are three main sections: the Lindauer Replica Studio, containing prints of the work of Woodville artist Gottfried Lindauer; the History Gallery, telling the story of the settlement of Woodville through photos and objects; and the art galleries with work for sale from artists around the region.

So every Sunday for such a long time, we have had a wonderful couple donate their time to ensuring the gallery was able to open. Its now time for them to move to pastures new, and along with a huge thank you, we are so grateful for your commitment. This unfortunately means that until we can fill their shoes, we will be closed Sundays. Please feel free to reach out if you have a few hours free on Sundays. We will be hoping this is a short term issue. Nga mihi

Coming into the gallery today, I happened to glance at the visitors book after the Lindauer Exhibition and event. What stood out for me was the comment " Thank you for keeping our heritage alive". This was written by a great great niece of Gottfrieds and really summed up all the work invoved and the amazing Volunteers and committee that got the event over the line.

Celebrating this amazing artist for the next 5 weeks. We are excited to join with the descendants of Gottfried Lindauer this Saturday and Sunday to commemorate 100 years since his passing and being laid to rest at the Woodville gorge cemetery. Event starts Saturday 20 June at 1pm. All welcome
