THE MENZSHED HAS CAPACITY FOR MORE OF YOUR REPAIRS OR OTHER PROJECTS!
It has been a bit cold and miserable in recent weeks but we still have a hard core of members on site 3 mornings a week (Mon, Wed & Fri) who are looking for something to do. While we keep ourselves busy with projects being made for sale at the next Woodend School Fair, we could do with a bit more work. So, if you have something that you think we could help with give us a call and we will do what we can.
Also, if you are looking for an activity which you can meet some like-minded guys who tinker with stuff, have a laugh and help out in the community where we can, then come along and see us and have a chat. We are located at Gladstone Park, Woodend.

THE MENZSHED IS ON THE LOOKOUT FOR NEW MEMBERS

If you are looking for an activity which you can meet some like-minded guys who tinker with stuff, have a laugh and save the world at least twice a week, then come and see us. No prior skills are required and in fact you don’t have to do anything productive at the shed. Just come for a chat and a cuppa and help out wherever your interest lies. If you have had idle thoughts of making something, we have a range of both wood and metal working equipment along with some skilled people who can guide and help you.
We are located at Gladstone near the Tennis Club and we are
open on Monday, Wednesday and Friday between 9.30am and 12.30pm. We suggest you come along around in time to join us
for a morning tea at 11.00am

𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐅𝐨𝐨𝐝 𝐅𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐚𝐭 𝐆𝐥𝐚𝐝𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐤 𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐝𝐬 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐜𝐮𝐢𝐧𝐠!!

A couple of years ago a group of interested people set up a food forest project in Gladstone Park next to the Menzshed. They did a lot of good work planting and installing irrigation, but unfortunately their enthusiasm seems to have waned and they have vanished into the sunset.
The planted area had become an overgrown unsightly mess so a couple of guys at the Menzshed decided to do something about this by mowing and trimming the area. It now looks a bit tidier but there is still plenty to do if there is a group of interested gardeners out there. A number of shrubs and trees need replacing, the irrigation needs a few repairs and there is plenty of weeding to do to get the area back under control. Not to mention the 3 large piles of mulch which mysteriously appeared on the site a couple of months ago.
The Menzshed were not involved in the set-up of the food forest. We are not gardeners and not really interested in maintaining it. We are happy to help out by keeping it mowed, if only there were some bodies out there who would take responsibility for the planting and maintenance.

ALLAN EVANS
It is with regret and sadness that we have to advise that Allan Evans, one of our Trustees and a founding member, has recently passed away. Allan was one of the original 4 men who met with the then headmaster of Pegasus Bay school who had floated the idea of establishing a local Menzshed. Allan became the first chairman of the group of interested men who turned the idea into reality. His experience and building skills were a major asset when we were in the process of setting up the Menzshed at Gladstone Park, and up until very recently he could be found helping out and generously dispensing advice at the shed.
Allan was a strong Menzshed advocate and he was a regular attendee at quarterly regional meetings of Canterbury Sheddies. Prior to setting up our Menzshed he had been a member of the Kaiapoi Menzshed for a number of years. Allan’s smile and sense of humour will be missed at the Shed and his knowledge and skill will be hard to replace.

WHO STOLE OUR COMPRESSOR?

When we tried to fire up the compressor at the Menzshed this morning, we couldn’t understand why it was not working. Then we looked outside and found that our compressor, which was housed in a robust locked steel, cage was GONE!! Some lowlife who is happy to steal from a charity has attacked the cage and walked off with the compressor between Wednesday pm and Friday morning, So to that person, you left part of the power cable behind, would you like us to deliver it to you?????
