ALLAN EVANS
It is with regret and sadness that we have to advise that Allan Evans, one of our Trustees and a founding member, has recently passed away. Allan was one of the original 4 men who met with the then headmaster of Pegasus Bay school who had floated the idea of establishing a local Menzshed. Allan became the first chairman of the group of interested men who turned the idea into reality. His experience and building skills were a major asset when we were in the process of setting up the Menzshed at Gladstone Park, and up until very recently he could be found helping out and generously dispensing advice at the shed.
Allan was a strong Menzshed advocate and he was a regular attendee at quarterly regional meetings of Canterbury Sheddies. Prior to setting up our Menzshed he had been a member of the Kaiapoi Menzshed for a number of years. Allan’s smile and sense of humour will be missed at the Shed and his knowledge and skill will be hard to replace.

The public toilets at the Gladstone Park car park have been vandalised. Paper dispensers smashed and paper set on fire. What is it with people who think it is cool to damage public facilities?

WHO STOLE OUR COMPRESSOR?

When we tried to fire up the compressor at the Menzshed this morning, we couldn’t understand why it was not working. Then we looked outside and found that our compressor, which was housed in a robust locked steel, cage was GONE!! Some lowlife who is happy to steal from a charity has attacked the cage and walked off with the compressor between Wednesday pm and Friday morning, So to that person, you left part of the power cable behind, would you like us to deliver it to you?????

The Woodend School Fair last Saturday was once again a great success. Congratulations to the organisers.
Thank you to all the people who came along and supported the Pegasus Woodend Menzshed. We sold out of nearly everything we had, which has enabled a significant addition to our building fund.
Attached are some pictures of same rather large items which we would still like to part with, as storage is a problem for us.
The dog kennel is going for $100, the dolls push chair for $75 and the modernist Christmas tree for $50.

Next Saturday your local Menzshed will be at the Woodend School Fair. Come along and have a chat and maybe buy something. These pics show just a few of items we will have for sale. There will be much much more and we will post more examples during the week as we unpack the work our guys have done over the last year.
With luck we will be able to handle paywave cards as well as cash this year.

The Pegasus Woodend Menzshed is your LOCAL "shed" largely serving the communities of Woodend, Pegasus, Ravenswood and Waikuku. Our membership are largely drawn from these communities and the work we do is almost exclusively for these communities.
There are other Menzsheds in Waimakariri, at Oxford, Kaiapoi, and Rangiora with another nearby in Amberley. We all work towards the common objective of bringing generally older men together in one community space to share their skills, have a laugh, and work on practical tasks for the themselves, the shed or the community.

If you live our area and think you might be interested in joining us, please make contact (call Derrick on 0224365960) or come down to our shed in Gladstone Park on Monday, Wednesday or Friday morning and have a chat. Our shed is accessible on foot or on your bike from many parts of our community, alternatively drive down Gladstone Road to the park.

The Menzshed was pleased to help out at the Old School Summer Fun Day on Sunday. The day was a roaring success with lots of people enjoying themselves on a beautiful day. Our little stall managed to raise some funds to help out with the shed running costs. as well.
We have a couple of larger items still for sale at reduced prices as storage is a problem for us. See the pictures, the beautiful recycled Rimu top coffee table is now $100, (NOW SOLD!)and if you want to plan early for Christmas our last steel tree can now be purchased for $80. You can have a look at these at the Menzshed in Gladstone Park on Monday, Wednesday of Friday morning, message us or phone Derrick on 0224365960.
Note if you saw anything you liked on Sunday we can always make one for you, and Just a reminder to a couple of our customers to transfer payment for the items we allowed you to take on credit, in the absence of an affordable eftpos facility.
