🌺 Earlier this week Tātou Collective hosted members of University of Otago and their Pacific Leadership Group.

The session was part of an early research scoping project between Tātou and the University of Otago. The engagement included discussion about how research and evidence can support Pacific families and communities, strengthen learning and better understand what meaningful outcomes look like for Pacific whānau.

Communities of Practice 🌺
Bringing Navigators Together

Our Communities of Practice bring Navigators together to connect, reflect and strengthen culturally grounded, whānau-led practice.

Through shared learning and talanoa, we see the power of collective wisdom in action.

Fa’afetai tele lava to our hosts, facilitators and partners.

𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗯𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗱 𝗔𝘂𝗰𝗸𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗱 & 𝗡𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗵𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗪𝗵ā𝗻𝗮𝘂 𝗢𝗿𝗮 𝗡𝗮𝘃𝗶𝗴𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘀

On 𝗙𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝟴 𝗠𝗮𝘆 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲, we brought Auckland and Northland Whānau Ora Navigators together for our May Community of Practice. While our Communities of Practice are usually held monthly within each region, we felt it was important to create a space where everyone could come together to connect, talanoa, and strengthen our collective relationships.

The day was enriched by an insightful session on mental health in the community with guest speaker Moefilifilia Aoelua (Pacific Nurse Lead, Mental Health & Addictions – Te Whatu Ora Counties), alongside a message from our Deputy Chair, Dr Uluomato’otua Saulaulu Aiono, navigator connection, and Tātou Collective updates.

We are grateful for the wisdom, commitment, and care navigators bring every day to families and communities. The high energy in the room, strong interaction, and genuine engagement - backed by positive feedback after the session - clearly showed how valuable and helpful this space was for our navigators and their ongoing work.

Fa’afetai, and thank you to everyone who joined us.

Last week members of The Cause Collective and Tātou Collective attended Waitangi Day commemorations in the Far North. The visit brought a deeper understanding of the strength of Māori whānau and the importance of self determination. It also reinforced organisational commitments to Oranga Whakapapa for Māori communities.
