Yesterday our iwi came together to celebrate and honour two of our esteemed Kaumātua and Rangatira, Hori Parata MNZM and Te Warihi Hetaraka ONZM, following their recognition in the New Year’s Honours.

Alongside their whānau we acknowledged their lifetime of service and contribution to Ngātiwai, te ao Māori and Aotearoa. We celebrated how they have enriched our iwi and inspired generations.

The afternoon was filled with mihi, waiata and kapa haka, as whānau and friends gathered to pay tribute to our Uncles Hori & Te Warihi. Sharing kai and stories we reflected on the many lives they have touched and the legacy they continue to leave for future generations.
