The Best Dog Trust

The Best Dog Trust The Best Dog Trust works with the community to desex and support dogs across the Whangārei and Kaipara region.

Every dog is a good dog — the best are desexed! 🐾

We’re a registered charity helping reduce unwanted litters in Whangārei & Kaipara through our community dog desexing programme. We support low-income dog owners with the cost of desexing and rely on funding, donations and amazing volunteers to make it happen.

Every single dog helped creates a ripple across our entire region 🌊🐾

A massive thank you to our friends at Morris and Morris Funerals!

Beyond their long-standing care and support for local families, the Morris & Morris team are passionate about creating a healthier, happier community for our four-legged friends, too.

Thanks to their ongoing sponsorship, we can continue to provide subsidised desexing for dogs across Whangārei, Wellsford, and Kaipara - helping prevent unwanted litters and keeping our local dogs healthy.

Their support is especially vital because it allows us to continue to vaccinate every dog we desex against the potentially deadly Parvovirus while we are between major funding grants.

We couldn't do this vital work without your generous support. Thank you, team!

Happy International Dog Day from all of us (and our pack!) at The Best Dog Trust! 🐶❤️

Today, we’re celebrating the absolute joy, goofy tail-wags, and unconditional love that dogs bring into our lives every single day. (And that's why we think every day should be International Dog Day).

Meet four very special reasons why we do what we do: **Judd, Sasha, Xito, and Tahi**!The dogs behind the Best Dog Trust team.

These guys are our constant reminders of just how special the bond between a dog and their human really is.

To make sure all dogs get a chance at a loving life like these guys, we have to tackle the root of the issue: preventing unwanted litters before they start. That’s why The Best Dog Trust exists - we believe that desexing is the BEST way to reduce the number of unwanted dogs in our region.

We believe that all dogs are good dogs, but the BEST are desexed!

We don't want financial stress to stand in the way of doing what's best for your dog. We know times can be tough, which is why we’re proud to provide **FREE desexing** for dogs across Kaipara, Whangārei, and Wellsford for owners who need a helping hand with the cost.

If you or someone you know in our local community needs support, please reach out to us! www.bestdogtrust.org.nz

And please, share pics of your beloved dogs with us in the comments!

Give your pups an extra belly rub from us today.

Happy International Dog Day! 🐾✨

*Update: Echo has been adopted! 🩷

Meet Echo 🐾

Could Echo be the newest member of your family?

At just 10 weeks old, this Labrador-cross puppy is already winning hearts. As you can imagine, this wee cutie has heaps of energy and loves exploring, learning, and making new friends.

While Echo may be small now, she's expected to grow into a medium to large-sized dog. That means her future family will need to be ready for the commitment that comes with raising a young puppy, including training, socialisation, and plenty of love and patience.

Echo would do best in a home where someone is around for most of the day to help her settle in and continue building her confidence, or with a family that has older children.

We're looking for the best possible match for Echo, one that understands the rewards and responsibilities of helping a young puppy grow into the bestest well-mannered dog friend.

Before you adopt any dog from us, we'll make sure that you’re a good match for each other, that your property is suitable, and that a background check confirms you are a responsible dog owner.

Dogs will be:
🐾 Desexed
🐾 Vet checked and vaccinated (parvo virus)
🐾 Dewormed and defleaed
🐾 Microchipped
🐾 Council registered
