Here is some info to support our disability community during Cyclone Vaiau :
For our disability community, being prepared is best. Here is info specifically design for people with disabilities with accessible formats included - https://www.wremo.nz/alternative-formatsresources-for-disabled-people

Some evacuation centres may not be fully wheelchair accessible. Due to flooding, alternative/back up evacuation centres were used. It is good idea to check on the accessibility of the evacuation centre and its back up.

For people with service dogs, it is good to have a plan on keeping your animal safe if you have to go into an evacuation centre as there may be other untrained dogs at the evacuation centre. In the busyness of people organising evac, this can be missed.

Advice from disability community - if the vegetables and fruit in the garden is touched by the flooding, do not eat the food from it as it will make you sick.

For Deaf, hard of hearing or you have a speech impairment, if you need to contact phone numbers, NZ Relay Services can be used, however it is dependent on internet or mobile access during the cyclone.

For Deaf, hard of hearing or you have a speech impairment and have pre-registered. You can text 111 for emergencies (Police, Fire, or Ambulance). Registration is required for the service to function. Register online at the NZ Police 111 TXT page

Why can't we as disability proud people enjoy ourselves with a little time out?

Yatzy Fever is Contagious! (And My High Score is Proof!) 🎲🌎

Okay, folks, I'm officially obsessed. I've discovered the joys of playing Yatzy with people all around the world, and let me tell you, it's an absolute blast!

Imagine this: I'm sitting here sipping my coffee, and on the other side of the screen, someone in Tokyo is shaking their virtual dice right along with me. We're battling it out for straights, full houses, and that elusive Yatzy!

The best part? Playing against people from different cultures and sharing a little bit of friendly competition. We're all united by the thrill of the dice roll and the strategic placement of those numbers. I've learned new strategies, and discovered regional variations of the game (who knew?!)

And let's talk about the glory! I've been perfecting my game, and last night... BOOM! It's my personal best: 739! πŸ₯³ I managed to snag a few strategically placed Yatzy's and a killer upper section score. The adrenaline rush was REAL!

So, if you're looking for something engaging, and globally-connected - this is a great way to spend your free time, I HIGHLY recommend giving Yatzy a try. You might just find yourself hooked like I am!

What's YOUR highest Yatzy score? Let's see who can challenge me! 😜

We want to hear from anyone else who has similar stories. More exposure needed and our elderly need protection. Message us in the first instance or post here. πŸŒŸπŸ’¬πŸ‘πŸ’•

Whistleblowers risk everything to bring wrongdoing to light. But what happens when they're met with violence and intimidation? Reports are surfacing of people in New Zealand having their vehicles firebombed after exposing corruption. This is a direct attack on transparency and accountability. We must stand in solidarity with these brave individuals and ensure their voices are heard. How can we better protect whistleblowers and encourage others to come forward without fear? πŸŒŸπŸ’‘πŸ”₯πŸ’ͺ
