🌧🌬❄Severe Weather update🌧🌬❄
A slow-moving front over southern Aotearoa New Zealand brings heavy rain, especially to western areas but also affecting parts of Southland and Otago. For inland parts of Otago the rain is expected to turn to snow above 600 metres, with heavy falls possible above 800 metres. Road snowfall warnings will also be issued for some South Island Roads.
Meanwhile, a low pressure system over the Tasman Sea is expected to deepen and head towards New Zealand during Thursday. An associated front is forecast to bring a burst of heavy rain and northeast gales to northern parts of the country on Thursday and Friday. Thunderstorms and localised downpours are also possible as the front moves southeastwards over northern parts of the North Island.
