Last week we hosted the Hikoi 4 Health van at Hihiaua and today we witnessed the end of the years long journey at Parliament. Drs Art Nahill and Glenn Colquhoan met Greens MP Lam Pham to present copies of the book "Rethinking Health" they have written after touring Te Ika a Maui last year listening to communities. Today their colourful van pulled up on the forecourt to mark the end of the Hikoi. The investigative GPs hope for changes of thinking about how health care is delivered. Ms Pham assured them she will present copies of their findings to each MP after the election.

We opened a cultural centre in Wayilwan Ngurambaa (Wayilwan Country) near Maliyaangaa Ngurra (The Wayilwan marshes).
The Maliyangaa Ngurra Languages, Arts & Cultural Centre is open 9am-5pm Mon-Fri in Quambone.

Mattresses, so many mattresses!!
We have loads of mattresses now in stock at CBEC Garden Centre Kaitaia 190 Pukepoto rd Kaitaia.

Thanks to our textile recycling program, we pick up unwanted clothes from op shops they are sent to Auckland, shredded, sanitized, felted and made into high quality mattresses THEN our local ladies sew covers for them, and NOW we need folks to support our project by purchasing mattresses, made in NZ, proving a wonderful sleep doesnt have to cost the earth!

Onerahi residents may have wondered what was going on in the harbour this afternoon as a traditional waka taua came into the boat ramp. Now anchored off the beach, Te Wairoa was launched into the Waiarohia stream at Hihiaua for the first time. The crew has been training and preparing for weeks at home in Dargaville. They will paddle the waka back up the harbour again tomorrow morning....you might be lucky enough to see it.
