Hello everyone,
If anyone has surplus local school uniform items they no longer need, we would be incredibly grateful for your support. We currently have several families coming to the Uniform Bank looking for items, but our stock is very low at the moment.
All donations are warmly welcomed, and every piece makes a real difference — thank you so much for your continued support 💜
The HBC Community School Uniform Bank is open Thursdays and Saturdays, 10am–12pm, and is located at Manly Methodist Church.
If there is no one in the shop, just pop down to the Labour of Love op shop below and someone will take you through 😊

📒IMPORTANT NOTICE📒

Over the past three months, our organisation has faced an extremely challenging period. Unfortunately, some rumours and misinformation have also been circulating, so we feel it is important to provide you with accurate and factual information.

Due to privacy and legal requirements, we cannot share full details. However, we can confirm that in early May, our Support Coordinator and Secretary experienced a serious health issue, which ultimately led to the end of her employment with the organisation on 5 August.

During this time, we worked very hard offering support to our colleague and have been working tirelessly to protect and preserve the organisation that, for more than 25 years, has provided invaluable support — and, in many cases, been a lifeline — for grandparents in our community.

At present, we have only a small team of volunteers keeping things running. Given the complexity of the situation and the challenges of navigating employment matters, we engaged an experienced labour lawyer on 18 June to guide us through the process.

Unfortunately, as a result of recent events, we have lost some important information needed to operate effectively. As both an incorporated society and a registered charity, we have strict legal obligations to meet — not only to government agencies but also to the wonderful organisations who support us financially.

Because of the significant workload we now face, our ability to respond promptly to phone calls and text messages is limited. If you require urgent assistance, please email:
📧 [email protected] or [email protected]

We have a recovery plan in place and are confident that, within the next couple of months, we will be back on track. Thank you for your patience, understanding, and ongoing support during this time.

A Givealittle page has been set up to support the family during this incredibly difficult time. As many of us have been asking how we can help.

We didn’t create the page ourselves, but we’re sharing it here for anyone who feels moved to contribute. Every little bit helps, and more than anything, it lets the family know we’re thinking of them.

PCSS are there to support you every step of the way, once you’ve made permanent care arrangements with Oranga Tamariki. They can offer recommendations and connect you with the right services and resources to meet your needs.

Our information sheet on the Permanent Caregiver Support Service covers eligibility and sets out what support you can expect to receive from PCSS. Click below to access our Resource Centre and check it out.
