Our congratulations to Cadet Dyer, who was recognised for his Bronze Duke of Edinburgh’s Award on Wednesday night.

The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award is a global, voluntary, non-formal education framework for young people aged 14–24 to develop skills, resilience, and community connections. It comprises three levels—Bronze, Silver, and Gold—requiring completion of activities in physical recreation, skills, service, and adventurous journeys. It promotes teamwork, self-confidence, and employability, recognized by employers and universities worldwide.

9 Squadron has many cadets working toward these awards at all levels - if you want to learn more or get involved - Join us

Air Cadets in Whanganui would like to invite all Year 9 and above students and their parent/caregiver to our recruitment evening. It’s a chance to come along and learn more about what the Air Training Corps is all about, have a look around and see if it’s what you want to do.
Wednesday 4th February at 7pm,
Army Hall on Maria Place Ext (opposite the recycling centre).
Interested in aviation, bushcraft, navigation, first-aid, military style service, leadership and much more? Then come along and check out what we have to offer.
There is no commitment to join, however if you do choose to give it a shot, we ask you to stick it out for 3 weeks so you can see the wide range of things we do.
You will receive more information on the evening and can ask any questions you might have. You may even see someone you know there.
Spread the word with your friends and bring them along to.
Intake numbers will be limited this year, so it will be on a first come, first in basis.
We look forward to seeing you then!
If you can't make it on the 4th, feel free to stop in any Wednesday night during the school term - we would love to see you there.

Last night, 9SQNATC wrapped up the year with our formal Dining-In and Prizegiving. It was a fantastic evening with good food, good company, and a chance to recognise the hard work our cadets have put in throughout 2025.

A big thank you to GPCAPT Peter Gibson for joining us as our guest speaker. His message of encouragement and service really landed with our cadets.

Congratulations to all cadets who received awards or promotions. You earned it. And thank you to the friends and whānau who came along, your support means a lot to the unit.

As we close out 2025, we wish everyone a safe and happy break. Bring on 2026! There are plenty more opportunities, challenges, and adventures ahead. 🎉🌟

A great evening out for our annual Parent vs Cadets Archery Shoot. Thank you to everyone who came along and helped make it such a positive event.

We saw some impressive shooting on both sides, and it was good to see everyone having a go and enjoying time together as a unit.

A big thank you to the Unit Support Committee, who helped set up, pack down, and run the sausage sizzle. Your support makes these events possible.

A special thank you to the Marangai Archery Club for hosting us and making the evening run so smoothly. We really appreciate your support.

A huge thank you to the amazing organisations who make it possible for us to use SkoolLoop — a tool that keeps our cadets, parents, and wider community connected and informed about everything we do.

Your support helps us communicate important updates, events, and opportunities quickly and clearly — it makes a real difference to how we operate.

We encourage everyone to support the businesses and groups who support us. They help keep our Squadron moving forward and our young people engaged in something great.
