✨ Happy Diwali 2025 ✨

Today marks the start of Diwali – the Festival of Lights, a time to celebrate light over darkness, knowledge over ignorance, and hope over despair.

The Multicultural Council Rangitīkei Whanganui along with the Rangitīkei Council joined in the celebrations over the weekend at their annual Feast and Festival in Marton, where communities came together to share food, culture, and joy.

The video shared here features a beautiful classical Indian dance performance, one of the many highlights that showcased the richness of our diverse community.

As the lamps of Diwali are lit across homes and hearts, we wish everyone peace, prosperity, and happiness. May this season of light bring warmth, unity, and love to all. 🌟🪔

Happy Diwali from all of us at the Multicultural Council Rangitīkei Whanganui!

NEW ROADSIDE TESTING COMING SOON

New illegal limits and tougher penalties for drug-impaired driving stop sign

The Land Transport (Drug Driving) Amendment Act 2022 makes changes to the Land Transport Act (LTA) 1998. The changes to the legislation include new illegal limits with lower limits for infringements, and tougher penalties for drivers found to be driving while impaired.

The new drug driving law includes illegal limits for specified prescription medicines and illicit drugs that impair the driver’s ability to drive safely; and have the highest risk to road safety in New Zealand.

Why has this change been made?
Anyone that drives on our roads, should get to their destination safely. We want safer roads for everyone.

The new law helps to deter and detect drug-driving after the use of qualifying drug(s) that can impact the safety of everyone on our roads.

Kia ora Whanganui/Rangitīkei Multicultural Council,
I want to express my sincere gratitude for the opportunities you provided me from 2007 onwards, and for the support to serve as Vice President at that time. That trust and encouragement gave me the space to grow, learn, and serve our communities with confidence.
A special acknowledgement to Vijeshwar and Pushpa Prasad for their generosity, guidance, and steadfast leadership over the years. Your example has meant a great deal to me.
Last night I was humbled to receive Life Membership after 20 years of service. This recognition would not have been possible without the foundation that Whanganui created for me as a young person, and the ongoing manaaki, aroha, and tautoko I’ve received along the way.
Thank you, and I wish the Council every success for the years ahead.
Kind Regards

Arish Naresh J.P, MHSc(Distinction), PG HSM, PG HSc,Dent Therapy, Adv Cert IT PhD(Hon)
