And today we are introducing our last panellist for our Beyond the Hustle Women In Business Panel event taking place at 5pm at Topshelf tonight: Lucy Potter.

Lucy’s day job is at Whakatāne District Council, where she works across project delivery and capability building. Helping people navigate new ways of working without making things more complicated than they need to be.

Outside of Council, Lucy is the creator of Got You, a practical support platform born from her own experience of navigating separation and rebuilding. She also works with business owners to streamline the way they work, remove unnecessary complexity, and create systems that make business feel more manageable.

As a mum of two who has balanced career, family and some fairly significant life curveballs, Lucy brings a practical and very human perspective to resilience and wellbeing. She’s less interested in simply “pushing through” and more interested in what it actually takes to build a life and career that are sustainable, particularly when life doesn’t go to plan.

For Beyond the Hustle, Lucy brings the perspective of someone who has learned that resilience isn’t about being endlessly strong. Sometimes it’s about knowing when to change the plan.

Introducing our next panelist for our Women in Business Beyond the Hustle Panel Event:

Hinehou Timutimu, of Tūhoe, Whakatōhea and Te Atiawa descent, is the General Manager of Te Tawa Kaiti. She leads the Trust’s management functions with a focus on high-level stakeholder engagement and the development of strategic partnerships that advance its organisational objectives. Her leadership is characterised by clarity, discipline, and a values-based approach to navigating complex kaupapa.

She has represented Aotearoa in international forums on women’s empowerment and SDG5, contributing Indigenous perspectives to global discussions on leadership, equity, and sustainable development.

Hinehou maintains strong connections to her communities through ongoing involvement in marae responsibilities and whānau trusts. She is recognised for her ability to operate confidently in both strategic and practical environments, bringing a steady, professional presence and a commitment to purposeful, well-aligned outcomes.

Her selection as a finalist for Dairy Woman of the Year reflects the influence of her management leadership and the strength of the partnerships and engagements she cultivates across local, national, and international settings. She won the Dairy Women of the Year 2026 award!

Introducing our first panelist for our Women in Business Beyond the Hustle Panel event: Dr. Angela Loucks Alexander is an audiologist, researcher, and proudly neurospicy entrepreneur specialising in Auditory Processing Disorder (APD).

Angela’s work took off globally when her 2021 TEDx talk on APD unexpectedly went viral. She now spends her days teaching audiologists how to assess and treat auditory processing disorder worldwide through the Auditory Processing Institute and hosts the AuDSquad podcast. Today, she is collaborating on an Auckland clinical trial and launching APDsupport Village - a listening tool crafted for tamariki, with an intentional bonus for perimenopausal mums battling brain fog and background noise.

Fresh off a TVNZ interview, Angela channels her trademark ADHD momentum right back into the local community. Between moderating the Ōhope Noticeboard and skating on track with the Whakatāne Roller Derby League (we are recruiting!), she is always on the hunt for wahine who appreciate good w**e, ridiculousness, and whimsy.

We will hear more about her story on 23 September from 5:30pm. We will gather at Topshelf (upstairs from Detour) with like minded women from our business community for networking, a delicious food spread and hear from 4 women from different walks of life and different perspectives and we will open the floor for a few questions after the panel discussion! Last night we held our Annual General Meeting, marking the end of another strong year for the Eastern Bay Chamber of Commerce.

We heard from our board and from our Executive Officer with reports from the year past and updates on initiatives for the year to come.

We also heard from Mayor Nandor and David Glover with General Business updates for the business community which was very interesting and insightful.

Afterwards we enjoyed some great networking and nibbles and made some new connections while also reconnecting with established ones.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and we look forward to the next one! 🥂
