Can’t get to a voting place? If you are enrolled, you can still vote. You can authorise someone to collect your voting papers, bring them to you, and return them for you. They must take your vote back to a voting place before 7pm on Saturday 7 November.

You can use the official authorisation form on vote.nz or write your own note. Include your name, phone number, address, roll type, and a clear statement that gives the person permission to collect your voting papers. You and the authorised person must both sign and date it.

If you do not have someone who can help, contact your the Electoral Commission as early as possible to discuss another way to receive and return your voting papers.

If you cannot mark your voting papers because you are blind, have low vision, or have a physical disability, you may be able to use the telephone dictation voting service. You must register before using this service. Registration opens on 5 October and closes at 12 noon on Election Day. Telephone dictation voting closes at 7 pm on Election Day.

In NZ, boundary fences are normally a shared cost, with neighbours paying equally for building, repairing, or replacing an adequate fence.

But the cost doesn’t have to be equal when:
🟡 One neighbour caused the damage, including damage from their tree roots.
🟡 One neighbour wants a pricier fence and agrees to pay more.
🟡 A contract or covenant sets different rules, common in new subdivisions.

When you buy a car in a private sale, you aren't protected by the Consumer Guarantees Act or the Fair Trading Act.

There are a few steps you can take to help reduce your risk.

Start with a vehicle inspection from a trusted source, such as VTNZ or AA.

Also check:
The car has a current Warrant of Fitness
The vehicle registration is up-to-date
The Road User Charges (RUC) have been paid
The car is not stolen or has money owing on it
If the car is subject to a safety-related recall

We cover each step in more detail here: https://www.cab.org.nz/article/KB00001527

Alongside the annual update and fantastic tea and cake afterwards, highlights included certificates for newly accredited volunteers, as well as those celebrating their 15th, 20th and 25th anniversaries with our Bureau.

If you've been on the fence about volunteering, we're always keen to welcome new faces. Drop us a message to learn more, or pop into our Boon Street office between 9 and 3 on weekdays.
