Wairaka Playcentre Whakatane Wairaka Playcentre offers fun, educational sessions for children & parents, in the heart of Whakatane ;) Your first 3 sessions are free!

Wairaka Playcentre is open on Tuesdays and Thursdays 9am - 12pm. Visitors are welcome to come to a session to see what it's all about. Then we ask for a small donation of $20 per child per term (max $30 per family) to keep us going. The perfect location for play groups, coffee groups, those new to Whakatane and anyone who is looking for activities for their baby or preschooler. Wairaka Playcentre

is well resourced to cater for every child's interest from paint, sand & glitter to dolls, bikes & forts and so much more. We are part of the Playcentre Federation of Aotearoa. We want to say a HUGE ngā mihi to Trust Horizon for the grant towards our yearly power bill ⚡️as a volunteer run organization this is massive for us - this means we can channel more money into fun things for our tamariki 🫶 ngā mihi nui Trust Horizon!

Our lucky playcentre tamariki had front row seats to the HMNZS Matataua unit marching through town 🥁🚢
The kids enjoyed the show and then the mums enjoyed a cheeky coffee after 🤭

Limited spaces avaliable in our Whakatane Space at Playcentre groups
New Group for babies born January - March 2026
Wairaka Playcentre - Tuesday Afternoon - 4 spaces avaliable starting Tuesday 21 April

Unit two group - with babies born between October to December 2025
Mananui Playcentre - Monday morning from 20th April - 4 spaces avaliable

Play term - with babies born between July to September 2025
Mananui Playcentre - Monday afternoon from 20th April - 4 spaces avaliable

Come join us for music and movement, books, crafts and facilitated discussions around parenting and development. It’s the perfect way to enjoy special time with your baby while making new friends in a relaxed, safe and nurturing environment.

If you have a baby due after April 2026 then please email me at [email protected] with your due date, where in Bay of Plenty you wish to attend Space, to go on the mailing list for future programmes!
