A wee update on the KNECT Food Project from Jessie Creedmore who took on the 12-month Strategy Activator role in April:

Buller Local Food & Beverage Network

We are working on a producer and stakeholder database from sketch to working build. It's being designed as a portable, app-like digital platform to allow a public facing directory for those who wish to be part of an online directory and food map.

There will be sub-networks created, which will be based on food types and/or interest areas. This way, people can connect with others on their specific areas of focus to really improve efficiencies and workflows. The list of sub-networks is currently being formed, with the starting ‘list’ (around 8 – 10) communicated in coming weeks for feedback.

Social Enterprise Food Resilience Hub

A group of people came together on 5 May to workshop a Social Enterprise Food Resilience Hub concept. The Hub sits outside the 12-month scope but we're tracking it carefully and positioning it for Year 2. The concept involves the staged, modular establishment of a non-for-profit physical Food Hub. Nothing at scale, with everything focused to serve our community’s food equity, resilience and sustainability.

THRIVE

The project presented at the THRIVE economic diversification summit in Westport on 19 May.
