North Rodney Blue Light Ventures Inc. NRBL is a registered charity that runs programs and activities for youth in the Local Communiy assisted by volunteers, parents, and the NZ Police.

New Zealand Blue Light is a registered charity and community policing youth program that for the past 29 years has run programs and activities for youth throughout New Zealand free from drugs, alcohol and violence working closely with the New Zealand Police to -

Reduce youth crime. Build community partnerships. Build young peoples self esteem. Enhance community safety. Build positive youth and p

olice partnerships. Blue Light aims are to reduce young people becoming an offender or victim of crime and to build better relations between the police, young people, their parents and the community. Blue Light encourages healthy and safe socialisation for young people with all Blue Light events being alcohol, drug and violence free. In today’s society who else can guarantee this and this is why parents and the community totally trust and support Blue Light activities for their children.

So far the 2026 year activities have involved students from Rodney College, Otamatea High School and this week Glenbervie Primary School. The branch Coordinator was assisted by volunteers from the branch Darryl Reardon, Neil Wright, Terry Gillgooly and Hayleigh Schimmmel from Blue Light Whangārei.
The next few weeks we have Dargaville, Glendowie College, Dairy Flat, Kaukapakapa, Warkworth Primary Schools.

The 2026 Blue Light Lifeskills Course at the Whenuapai Airbase was again a real success for 7 local students from Rodney College, Otamatea High school and a home schooler. A wide range of team building, Lifeskills, Goal setting, drill, PT, off site White Water rafting, Air base visits and a graduation parade of some very proud parents.

The 2025 Blue Light activities are nearly complete. North Rodney Blue Light has provided opportunities for over 1400 youth this year. The branch volunteers and staff have kept everyone well instructed, supervised and safe in the youth learning new skills, team building. The theme for this year was "Gratitude changes your Attitude which gives you Altitude". Thanks to our National Blue Light team we work along side with their Leadership Voyages, Lifeskills and Leadership courses at Whenuapai, PCT National competition, Rainbows End Fun day. Schools and community groups from Auckland to Northland appreciate the well supervised and safe activities. The many sponsors that have provided funding for the youth and products also is much appreciated. Have a Safe & Happy Christmas.

2 Local lads from Rodney College joining the Blue Light leadershop voyage on the Steinlagar yacht. Thanks to the support from Mangawhai Opportunity Factory for this great opportunity and Blue Light and the NZ Sailing Trust.

3 local students from the branch successfully completed the Blue Light Lifeskills 5 day course held at the Whenuapai Air Base. 36 Students from the North Island made new friends and developed an understanding of the military culture. Team challenges, PT, drill, base visits, anti bullying presentations, SMART goals, NCEA credits, High ropes course at Woodhill and even a cooking lesson. The NZ Defence Force Youth Development Unit, NZ Police and Blue Light staff were joined by Fiji Police throughout the course developing the students skills. A final parade was enjoyed by the parents and caregivers of the participants. Shane Gould and Antony Searle both agreed this was one of the best courses we both have been involved in. Congratulations to Levi Kairau of Rodney College for receiving the Merit Award.
